Hi,
I bought a Runt 50 recently. I owned many Marshall-style amps over the years and still own a Suhr SL68 and a Marshall 1959HW (with Mustard Caps and a Heyboer OT). The Runt 50 sounds fabolous and now I cant get the idea out of my head to sell one of my other amps to finance a BE100. Its the Friedman flagship model so it has to sound better, right? Is here anyone who has heard/owns the Runt and the BE100 and can tell me if this would be a noticeable upgrade or if im going mad?

First post! :)

I have both and the BE just sounds bigger and badder with more tonal options. If Dave made the BE in a combo I wouldn't own the Runt.

I've never tried the Runt 50, but I've listened to every video it and I own the Runt 20 and the BE, among other Friedmans.

From listening to the videos, I think the 50 sounds a bit better than my 20. I think my Pink Taco is a step up from the Runt 20 though, and the BE is another step up again.

Realistically would a non-musician in the audience appreciate the difference between the Runt and the BE? Probably not. Would you while playing thru it? Absolutely. The Runt 20 can be amazing, until you plug into the BE...then it's just the Runt. Same with the Pink Taco. Great amp. Then turn on the BE. Separating the Men from the Boys,

Before you jump on a BE, research the other 100 watters, the SS, JJ & the Butterslax. They're all great and all a little different (and the Smallbox too).

I looked already on the other models as well, the Steve Stevens Model might be the one for me. It sounds a bit warmer and it doesnt seem to have the heavy emphasis in the mids. But the BE100 has all these switches and stuff. Choices

The SS is the only 100 that I haven't had, but I have one coming on tuesday! I'm very excited.

Would be cool to know your thoughts when you have played the amp!

I've had the chance to play all of Dave's amps, many different options but I also own a BE100 (Dave modified for me), the Runt is a great amp as well as the SS100! What I love about my BE is the refine-to-raw capabilities where it can go from the Best Marshall-Modified High-Gain to seriously wonderful Clean all in a highly efficient components and construction. The SS100 is a different "Fullness" that you have to try to know, very versatile. When you have a chance to play the amps in a band setting, then you can hear & feel the difference and yet sounds awesome at "low levels".
