Ok, so I paid for it Monday. The seller said it would ship Wednesday, then yesterday, maybe Thursday. Now, they "hope" to ship today. Doesn't sound promising...

At what point does one tell them to shove it? I want this amp, but now it's dragging into receiving it next week, and Florida is easing back to normal life next week, and I won't be home to sign for it. If he shipped Wednesday as stated, I would have had it Saturday.

Congrats!

I've been tempted by the Artist/Blackmore a few times. For my tastes, they sound like the Engl I would like most.

One of the few Engls I've not owned/played. I've heard a lot of good things though.

Great sounding amp. Played in a band with a dude that had one and enjoyed the tone. I ran a Blackmore at the time, tones complemented each other well in my opinion and had slightly different things going on. Artist Edition sounded a little bit more aggressive, Blackmore sounded a little bigger and maybe a little more dry

I thought the Artist was one of the better Engl’s. It seems to get overlooked for some reason. One of the least compressed and least processed sounding Engl’s and the closest one to having a Marshall-y voicing, but still able to get into modern, heavy territory. It had an aggressive upper mid growl that made it stay for a while

My overall favorite Engl was the SE EL34 and 2nd fave was the Inferno (was like a better version of the fireball 100), but they all had their own things going for them

Wow man, curious if it's a keeper for you or not   You gonna make any clips when you get it? I have never seen an Engl locally like ever but am super curious on them. Good luck with that wait

Well, it's not like I have anything else going on, while in lockdown. Sucks!

Congrats. One of those amps I’ve “almost” pulled the trigger on many times. Curious your thoughts when you get it.

And now, the waiting...
Let's see if it dethrones the Splawn! It's been on the bucket list, and I found a deal I couldn't pass up. REALLY stoked!
I'll be interested to hear your take. I'm narrowing my list down and the Artist is still on there.

That's Awesome man. Let us know how you like it. I think me and you have pretty similar tastes when it comes to high gain. That and the blackmore are the only Engl amps I could really get into.

Yeah, I like EL34's, Marshall voicing with a bit of attitude and aggression, and big thump. Anxious to see how it pairs with my Greenback loaded 4x12.

Tried a 50 watt version from a reverb seller, was new. There were things I Fn loved about it, the gate was cool, the gain was cool/fast fun thick sounding. The dynamics for me were a bit of a challenge, the clean I never settled with. The footswitch is a pita, just my opinion of course. I tried the highly regarded one that is mentioned Gary Moore had used a few times, not sure of the specifics on all that. It's a mean sob! Just depends on what your wanting out of it, if its nasty kick ass tube distortion your going to nutt!!!

Always wanted to try one. Looking forward to your feedback. :checkthisout:

That was supposed to be Doug Aldridge's Signature amp...

That's all I care about. Cleans are for pussies.... JK.... Seriously, I don't use cleans. I just care about 1 core, heavy tone. I use my RP1000 for FX only, and just make presets for effects, and bump the levels for lead patches. Plus, the volume pedal doubles as an attenuator. I can crank the amp a bit, and tame it with the volume pedal. The RP1000 is somewhat of a dinosaur these days, but damned if it don't work good! I can't seem to part with it.

Yep. And, Gary Moore did have his hands on it after that fell through, as did Paul Stanley, Jimmy Page, Vivian Campbell, and Scott Gorham.

I'm not sure what happened with Aldrich. It seems that he's the one that backed out, and I'm sure it had something to do with Marshall. If Aldrich had a hand in it, it's got to sound killer!

Congratulations. Looking forward to your review. Anything Doug Aldrich was involved in designing has got to be amazing.
