So the other day I was in my local Nashville area GC when Derek St. Holmes walks in...

I have had the extreme pleasure of meeting him twice before at GC over the past few months... I am a true blue hard core Ted Nugent fan since 1979...

Anyway this time he has Brad Whitford in tow with him and are looking at a vintage 1958 Tele...

So I said hi to Derrick and was kind of standing down because I had never met Brad before...

They proceeded to try the Tele and I guess it was a no go... I said to Derek "you didn't like the Tele"?... He said I'm a Gibson guy, Brad was looking at the Tele

Then Brad just walks up to me and says Hi, I'm Brad and sticks his hand out to shake mine... I was like wow, how totally cool!

I said Yes I recognized you when you were playing the Tele and I simply said THANK YOU, Thank you for all the years of great music I have enjoyed..

I got my first Aerosmith record in fall of 1978 and the early ones are my most favorite.

Anyway I said to Derek (who is a Marshall purest kind of guy)... "Hey Derek I am still really diggng my Friedman Brown Eye"...

He said that's right your a "Friedman guy" (we have had this conversation before) and you should show Brad the pics in your phone of your rig...

He told me that Brad was really wanting to get one now because Him and Brad were just playing the Friedman small box 50 in the
Platinum room with a Friedman 2x12 just before I ran into them... He said that Brad just totally dug it too.. ALOT.

So i pulled my iPhone 6 out showed Brad Whitford the pics of my rig at home and had this extremely cool conversation about
Friedman amps and why I really loved them so much and all that... It was cool as crap because I could tell he had rellay dug the small box 50 and was into the conversation.

We talked about 10 min or so and they left but not before my buddy who works there snapped a shot of us...

I was trying to look calm and natural... but as always in these situations I get this blank stupid retard look on my face... lol

That is the coolest story I have heard all week! Picked up a used smallbox last week to go with my older BE, I must concur great amps. The Friedman hype is real, some of the better Marshall flavored amps available.

Awesome story man!!!
I know everyone says "They are guys just like you and I"
but when I meet someone that I idolized as a rockstar......I get the deer in the headlights stare.
Just such a cool thing and I thank god I dont piss my pants or come across acting like a fool (Last part never works out) :D
Shit yeah.....Areosmith and Mr. Whitford. Sweeeeeet!

That is too cool! I've seen Aerosmith and Nugent numerous times since the early 80's  Big fan!

And to add to this Brad bought a Purple Smallbox from me with a Vintage 2x12 cab.

BAM!!!

Awesome!!!

I showed Brad the pics of my BE100 and Friedman 4x12 with my wet/dry setup and pics of the Small Box 50 Head that I had for short while... I told him that the Friedman 2x12 was ported and has a nice big sound to it. Both Derek and Brad wholeheartedly agreed as they had just gotten done playing it... I also told Brad that no other amp that I have ever owned had the response and feel that you get with just rolling the volume knob down and the tone is still right there in your face. I also mentioned that after buying my BE 100 I sold off all my other amps, not because I needed too but because there was no longer any reason to keep them around.

You're welcome Dave... :D :D :D

I'm sure Brad didn't need my input to make up his mind, Derek told me that he was totally sold after playing it...

Awesome story Giles! Also great to put a face with the name... as a side note, I am rocking the Suhr Modern you sold me and haven't felt a desire to pick up any other guitar lol.

That's some serious American Rock 'n' Roll history right there. Those guys are treasures.
On another Friedman note I noticed on the Sonic Highways show it looks like they're using BE-100's. Their guitar tone (also counting using all the other stuff they have) on this show has been really fantastic. Very classic kerang. I wonder if the bulk of the tone I'm hearing is the Friedman's. I know they like AC30's a lot etc. for recording. I wish I liked the actual songs (sorry, not a FF musical fan) but their tones are killer.

Well the only amp Chris Shiflet had with him while recording those songs was the Friedman.
