Brandon Ellis new Jackson Custom

I have to agree with him on 25.5 going to baritone scale lengths - for lead playing the 26.5” really suck. I’m sure the 0.5” difference is just enough.

The cutouts are next level gay...the only change in the recipe that was cool was the reverse hs and ss frets on his first designs. The titanium trem is debatable. I'm sure the carbon fiber reinforced neck is in play here. That was a great idea from the custom shop 15yrs ago. That wasn't an option on my Masterbuilt Shannon mahogany neck-thru. Thankfully the neck is stable. Brandon by is by far the greatest player of the age without question. Love to see him playing Jackson guitars.

A savage diss and respectful praise in the same post. Love it. The world isn’t black and white and neither should our opinions be

Dude there is nothing ghey about those cut outs on the King Kelly, they date back to the 80's when Robin Crosby wanted one with the cutouts because the guitarst from Overkill got one made and then for a number of years they were unavailable as an option because it took so song to properly sand and finish one with those cut outs. I think it's very cool that they offer it now.

You may, I don't and knew long ago too. It just looks too pinstripe to me. It ain't a lowrider and if it was I wouldn't play this music in one.

Man there are better players . Hes solid . But hes no Tosin Abassi . Brandon’s a great near potatoes player . But Tosin is king

Not even close...Brandon has emotion and expression unlike him. He doesn't even sound like he's making music unlike Brandon.
To be top level a player has to have feel....dime a dozen guys/girls who can shred and are technically proficient with all the tricks mastered; but if they don't have the feel it's just a robotic exercise and uninspiring to hear.
Just my opinion.

I know that different people have different tastes. I know that some guitarists are better technically also. For me, it isnt always the most talented and proficient that are my favorite. I think my view is going to be dictated mostly by composition in relation to rhythm and rests. Only lead work and sweeps if it adds to the song, which i feel most dont.

I know some guys only care about leads, but a good amount of it seems masturbatory

It's all about the conduit! Some cats have it most don't. My favorite players are self taught. You cannot teach feel! Either you have it or you don't. The greats can play a few notes and you know it's them. I respect technical ability but more often than not...

YAWN

For the record:

The very first double rhoads Jackson ever made was for Dave Linsk of Overkill and it did Not have cutouts.
