Bridge Pickup for a Les Paul Custom???

BG Pickups. Hellabucker or HellaRail. Or have Bryan wind ya a custom jobbie. His pickups are simply great.

I have a HellaRail in a LP Standard and it is simply divine to my ears.

Motor City Angel Dust -like a better JB with more punch, better bottom, and no harsh spike
BKP Cold Sweat -very tight and precise, just hot enough for all types of rock and metal, but not mushy
 
I'm really impressed with the bare knuckle riff raff
mine is slightly overwound (8.47k instead of 8k) and has a thicker alnico 5 magnet, so it's punchier than a regular one
I bought it for a '81 maple neck les paul standard, but I'm testing it in a PRS McCarty and I just can't stop playing it
this thing is unbelievably awesome :rock: :rock: :rock:
I was decided to get a WCR Godwood instead, as most Riff Raff clips I've heard sounded thin or weak, but this is the exact opposite of what it is in fact
I've had tons of pickups, including a lot of BKPs and a couple motor cities, but none impressed me that way straight out of the box
I never thought I could be satisfied by an under 10k humbucker in the bridge position
this thing is punchy as fuck and extremely versatile
and also the best interaction with boosters I've ever seen
definitely the best overwound PAF I've ever tried and for now, my favorite bridge pickup, at least in this particular guitar
I hope it does the same for my les paul
 
You should spend some time with Lugo's epic pup shootout in the everything else review section of the forum, and hear some of them for yourself. There are so many variables when you ask people with different amps and guitars what they like. One mans pinnacle is another mans POS.
May save you some suffering in the end ;)

High output, but still warm tone - nice present mids, not too much low end, still plenty of high end. Balanced, I guess... The thing I like about them is even with high gain, you can hear every note ring out when playing an open chord. Great clarity, sounds great with high gain or low gain amps.

Good description. I have an Aldrich in my Les Paul. I goota tell you though, I really like the 498T almost as well. Nice chunk and clarity in the strings.

try an alnico 2 magnet in the JB. It smooths the mids out and sounds really good.
 
It really depends on your amp and how you EQ the amp.



Rebel Yells work great for me for higher gain.

Cold Sweat was a bit to bright for my amp (SLO).

Crawler works great; I like the punch of the RY more. Crawler is sweeter in the upper register.

JB is very cool; sounds 'stiffer' than the RY but I liked it.

Dimarzio Air Zone wasn't hot enough for me; it was PAF-nice but not angry enough.

yeah
I wanted something around 9.5k, but Tim said that he couldn't overwind a Riff raff above 8.5k without losing its characteristic edge
I insisted saying that I wanted it to be as punchy as possible, or I'd order a VHII instead, so he suggested the thicker magnet for the Riff Raff
this thing sounds glorious!
the stock McCarty Treble was good, but a bit muffled and no near as clear
the Riff Raff sounds absolutely great for anything... leads, open chords, power chords, cleans, palm muted riffs
it's like a Nailbomb from early 70's :lol: :LOL:
very punchy, but balanced, open and not compressed at all
