you guys might be way more metal than me :D
cause I consider a triple rec and Uber tight

what amps are you all talking about when you think tight? my VH4 is tight but not leaps and bounds above Triple or Uber.

if you're married to Bogner tones but want tight huge low end you'll need an Uberschall. None of his amps do that big tight bottom but still squish and thud at same time. You may wanna try a Wizard Modern Classic - was way more organic and open but with huge tight low end. Or bang for buck a Mesa Triple Rec MultiWatt kills bor huge tight low end, just need to keep gain at noon or less and flat eq.

Uberschall and Rectos are the furthest thing from "tight" from my extensive experience

...huge yes... tight though?...not so much...

Yeah that's what I was trying to say without being so harsh, but I agree with you fully on this.

I find the Twin Jet to be plenty tight, with just enough sag to make it fun to play on...the 20th Shiva I had with 6550's was really tight...Not into stiffer feeling amps like VHT, Diezel, etc.

I agree you need to try some greenback type speaker with the BE…I have a marsha running a M75/H75 mix 2x12os and to me, the greenback really is the voice of the amp.

FWIW, I tried two M75s (a little woofy), and M75/H75 mix (much better) then changed out my bridge pickup for something with an A2 mag and that was the last piece of the puzzle. The A2 rolled off that last bit of harshness in the high end and added a little squish to the notes…perfect.

Right now I've got a Duncan 78 in my Suhr and the stock A2 DGT pickup in my PRS and couldn't be happier.

With the 101b, I really see people turning the gain way to high, when the amp just needs to be turned up volume wise. Gain does not tighten up your amp. It just distorts what your right hand is not able to cop. I think most of the problem is in the pick hand, and blamed on the amp.

lots of variables and subjectivity to the tones that we hear, but dayum I think these amps (101b for sure) with right cab will be percussive and "tight"
I agree that dry tone isn't what I'm after - has to have some sag and snarly mid grind/growl.

When I had my Friedman BE-100 it was tight but not a metal kinda tight but had a great thud to the bottom end when playing chuggy riffs :dunno:

This. Get that power section cooking and don't max out the gain...should be obvious but this where a lot of the user error comes from with Bogners. Volume will tighten them up.

So I gotta ask. What kind of tunes do you play? Mostly covers, originals, or both, or???? If covers, what bands/songs do you cover? If originals, what 3 bands would you compare your style to? I think possibly the thing that you like about Bogners, is the same thing that makes them not have a tight bottom end. I love Uberschalls myself, and though they may be tighter than other models, to me even they aren't super tight. Heck I don't consider Rectos to be very tight either. JMO of course.

What a crazy week.. Ok, both covers and originals.

Covers: AIC, STP, RATM, Foo Fighters, Green Day, The Cult, 311, The Killers, Pearl Jam, Jet, U2, Velvet Revolver, others... (not in any order of preference here)

Originals, leaning on Zep territory to AIC heavy. (sort of a mish mash at the moment)

I just learned this recently as well! I keep my Red gain at 9:00 and the Blue gain around 10:30. The 101B is tighter and crisper with lower gain and still has enough gain for solos. Turning the gains past 1:00 does start to compress the tone and NOT really add more gain. (That's the most I've ever used the word gain in just a couple sentences!)

I'll admit to being "married to the Bogner tone". I've come to realize I am all about the tones these heads offer. TJ is tight. Period. Not as tight as a VH4 for instance but definitely the tightest out of the Bogner bunch. I've got a Rev.2 incoming, I am really excited to hear what these have been applauded for... Very stoked.

Bogner amps give me wood. There.
