My son is a big Buckethead fan so when I saw this show was coming to Pittsburgh I surprised him with tickets. I've never paid a whole lot of attention to the guy other than hearing an occassional song here and there. After seeing him live, I can now call myself a fan...the guy is absolutely mind blowing. There aren't too many players today with as unique a take on the instrument from his "out there" phrasing and technique, bizarre tones, insane chops, and crazy stage prescence. If you get a chance to check out his live show, do it...I can't imagine anyone who is a fan of original music and great playing being disappointed.

The guy standing directly in front of me recorded the entire show and posted it on Youtube:

Nice!!! I've seen him a couple of times. I'll have to take a look and see when he's coming back to Chicago.

I think he's an awesome player,I even like him more that he turned ozzy and Sharon down, but dam dude, lose that fucking bucket and mask. It's been done to many times now.

Awesome! Started watching and couldn't stop. Thanks!

Good playing, but I'm just not in to that ridiculous image. A bucket of chicken and a mask?.....Come on. Lose the gimmick.

Buckethead holds my attention more than any other solo guitar performers. I would take a BH show over Satriani or Vai any day of the week. He's extremely versatile. My only problem is that on the last few tours, his band isn't up to par with him. He was far more interesting when Brain was on drums. He needs a world-class band. Even the Ipod shows are more entertaining than a sub-par backing band.
It looks like his gear has changed since the last time I saw him too. He used to play a Triple Rec into a Marshall 4x12 and a Kolbe 4x12. Which Bogner head is it that he's playing through?

All his backing music was sequenced for this show...I was skeptical but it worked. As for amps, he used a JVM410 and an Uberschall, both through Marshall 4x12s. He also had an SVT head and 8x10 cab for his bass solo (11:45 of 2nd video).

Ive never been really into him either. I need to give him a chance. The few times I've heard/seen him I've been impressed. Good stuff. Your son must have been stoked! Way cool of you!

Bh is one of my favorite players, i own a lot of his stuff and he has so many styles and so much talent, i like his more serious side and i definitely enjoy him more than most of the soloist guys.

Yep, bucket is a badass for sure, and he's from my hometown. Met him at the troubadour without the mask, his dad coached my high school football team.

did you live with chickens, too :D

I was at the NYS fair the other day, walking around, saw some people clearing away from a stage and asked who had just played: frikkin' Buckethead. Dammit! Totally free concert - could just walk up and have a seat. Glad I spent that time looking at the winning decorative table place setting competition entries.
