Greetings All,
Ive been a lurker here for quite some time but this is my first post. I recently purchased a Cornford MK50II and am really stoked about it. Ive been a Plexi/Ultimate Atten/ Poweramp slave rig guy for a long time and wanted something simpler but with a similar tone. Mission accomplished/exceeded.

However, for the first time in my 28 years of playing, I prefer to plug straight into this amp with nothing in between to muck up the tone or the feel of the amp. This is also actually the first time I could feel and hear a difference in the quality of a cable(Evidence Lyric HG) and not just "convince" my ears that it sounded different.

My question is, I need a wah for a few tunes and need my tuner in line for live work and am wondering if there is something I could use to buffer the signal so its as close to going straight in as possible. Whatever it is it has to be REALLY transparent.
If anyone knows of anything, please share!

welcome to the forum...don't be shy!

I would tell you to check out the VHT Valvulator. I run alot more effects than you do and it has done wonders for my tone. It certainly cleans up my tone and I also use it to power my pedals.

Also, you didn't mention what wah you are using but the original crybaby wah absolutely sucks tone when off. I would pick up a true-bypass one, which is something some of the better manufacturers use (Budda Budwah, Teese, etc).

hope i've helped and keep us posted

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I'll check out the VHT. I'm using a Zakk Wylde Wah....not a HUGE Zakk fan , but the top frequencies seem a lot warmer than on the standard Cry Baby...not nearly as shrill ...so I gave it a go.

Warning: try before you buy. Wah's tend to sound much different when they're in a buffered signalpath !

Or you could just buy a kick-ass wah with a buffer like the Morley Bad Horsie

In my experience this only makes matters worse; buffer -> buffer = not good

If he has a wah with a built in buffer, then he doesn't need another buffer

Thanks for the replys.

In all honesty, I dont even dig Wah all that much...but were a cover band and our whole deal is "as close to the original recording as possible"...sometimes a major pain in the arse....but I guess I'll have to experiment a bit and see what I come up with...damn Zakk and his Wah pedal.... :)

You shouldn't really need a buffer for 1 or 2 pedals if you want to keep the straight in feel, if the wah is true bypass. Just get a A/B box to keep your tuner out of the chain. However the best way to tell is still test it out and see what your ears prefer.

+1 on the VHT Valvulator I.

I've been a disciple of the Valvulator for years now and have said on numerous forums how much it's improved my tone.

I found it best to place my wah and StroboStomp before the buffer. Then all other pedals are after it. Works great with no problems. I also like the ground lift on the VHT, and the four isolated 9vDC power supplies are a bonus! Just wish they were more powerful than 80ma, but that's nitt picking.

Also, now's a good time to tell about VHT's service. After a few years, I finally had a problem with my Valvulator and sent it in for repair, fearing the worst. I was relieved to find out Steve repairs them for only $25 plus shipping if they're out of warranty. Great deal, IMHO.
