So I did a gab drum jam the other night and it was the first time I tried to record hard rock tones vs my normal thrash/palm mute stuff. I used my Butterslax's channel 1 with the gain at 6 and I thought it came out pretty good. Not a whole lot is said about the slax's channel 1 so I just thought i'd share for those interested.

That sounds like a classic rock/hard rock tone that anyone would love to have...really nice.

For a sec I got to focused on shaggy whipping some ass like jackie chan. Cool rock song with a well suited tone for it from that amp again.

I'm a big fan of your thrashy riffs, but this is cool too dude

I freaking loved it!!!
Again got lost in the video and the music just seemed like it was made for it.

THanks guys, and yeah Shaggy kicking ass definitely sucks you in lol. Nobody sells him oregano and gets away with it

Dude I LOVE the Slax on ch1 for Hard Rock and old school thrashy Tones. I think t gets plenty heavy. I can’t listen to your clip yet because I wanna do the drumjam too! Lol! I try to not listen to anyone’s so I don’t steal a riff by accident.

Nice, my college nickname was "Shaggy", should have made that my forum alias... Sounds really cool.

That's way awesome- especially for a throw together jam! The amp/playing sounds glorious

Dude I totally listened cause I got nothing on this jam.....always awesome, you got the best mixes going. Just sick.

Plus Shaggy kicking ass like a stoner ninja made my evening lol

Sounds awesome and all that, but I need to say something about IR's.

I'm sick of hearing everything recorded with IR's. Pete Thorn does it all the time and his videos have become boring, you know it's going to sound in a certain recorded way no matter what product he is demonstrating. Right now I prefer videos recorded with a friggin Iphone than to hear the same all recorded IR tone that tells very little of what the amp sounds in person.

Thanks dude! I enjoy the drum jams man. I think with each one I get a little better at this or that in terms of recording.

Thanks man. As for your comment about "recorded IR tone that tells very little of what the amp sounds in person" is pretty fair to say.

I have managed to capture some great tones with a loadbox + IRs over the years, but have I managed to capture how the amp sounds in person? Nope. Shit sounds way better in person. I don't think IRs will ever be able to capture that sound/feel of speakers pushing air back n forth. I will tell you though the better sounding the amp is the better the loadbox +IR recordings will sound at least for the thrashy stuff I like to play. I've learned this the hard way lol.

I was one of those guys that saw Pete Thorn's vid on the Suhr reactive load and IRs a few years ago and was like wtf is that about? I would definitely love to be able to record with mics for sure. But being able to record a drum jam last minute at 1am on Thanksgiving night in a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 kids and a wife sleeping is awesome

Yeah, it's very convenient for sure.

My next big buy it's going to be one of this soundproof booths: http://www.demvox.com/productos/cabinas ... izadas-eco

They are really expensive, but I think it's going to be totally worth it.
