Normally, I wouldn't touch GC with a 10 feet pole.

But they are selling a used amp that from the photos, look to be in immaculate condition. and it's about 600-800 dollars less than what they go on ebay for. And they are soooo rarely on ebay nowadays.

With their 30day return policy (14 on some items) I feel like it's hard to pass since it's an amp I've been wondering about for years.

Would you do it? Have you done it before?

Yup.....have em ship it to one close to you if you can, that way you can try it before you buy it; if not, there's that 30 day return policy on everything, so there's not really any risk. I have a guy at my local GC who'll test stuff that I order and then call me if it works; if not he'll just cancel it and call and tell me why.

Pretty cool deal you got there :)

Hmm. The website doesn't give me an option to have it shipped before paying for it... I mean yeah though with the return policy there's no real risk. I have the extra cash right now so I think I'll order it and take it back if it's not working or have any problems.

Thanks for the input!

Bought an Engl Screamer head w/footswitch used from some GC on the west coast (I live in VA). It arrived in perfect working condition, just as the guy I spoke to described (the honesty/competence of the person you speak to may vary, not that I've had a bad experience). Packed well for shipping, too.

Bought 2 or 3 amps that way including Bogner Duende combo and Carol Anne combo's, stole both for the price and can't tell either from new other than a little dusty. With return policy not much risk.

Guitar Center stands behind what they sell. They have done me right. I have bought tons of stuff from them.

At thanksgiving they made a huge pricing mistake. Thousands of dollars kind of wrong. The sales guy showed me a guitar with a sale tag, I played it. I was great and I said I will take it!

It was an SC-58. It had an incorrect sale tag of 1799. The sales man told me it was 1799 and gave it to me. At the register it came up $3999. They sold it for 1799$.

I have bought many used amps, used guitars, pedals. i have returned two guitars and one pedal.

No problems ever.

Now you may get a salesperson hat knows very little about the gear. But the company does what they say. And sometimes you save 2200$ on a guitar!

Awesome to hear guys. You just made me pull the trigger :D

Cornford Hellcat. Looks imaculate to me from photo. Not that I'd care about little nicks/tolex issues here and there. As long as it sounds good I'm happy.

Got it for $1500. I've seen it go way higher than that on ebay. Infact, there's another one in another location for $2300. Gonna check GC website more often from now on! It's not a CRAZY LOW price but hell. at some point these were flying out ebay for $2800!

My Cornford family is growing a bit too rapidly haha

GC's used gear is great. I typically call, and they're happy to tell you what they know (which sometimes isn't much) and to send more pics, etc. Unfortunately I've gotten some stuff that isn't quite right, but they take it back no problem.

Keep in mind vintage gear has only 48 hours, not 30 days.

There was a D Moll for sale in ATL area GC for 2450.

Deals are out there.

I just picked up a Peavey Wolfgang for $999 in great shape. I've gotten several great used deals through them (and given them some in trade  )

You really can't go wrong with the return policy. I've bought a handful of amps and guitars through them. I've returned some because they came in unacceptable condition, and some were keepers. But, the return policy is no questions, and makes it relatively hassle free. I prefer going through GC over eBay, to be honest.

I've only bought used amps at GC locally, but never had a problem and always got a pretty good price. If it sits around long enough, they are usually willing to deal, especially.

GC used website is great. Some of the best deals around.....

lol... I saw that hellcat for 1499! that was a good deal

I've been waiting for a good deal hellcat on ebay for so long!

For some reason I just googled it this morning and found that one on GC site.
Had to look and relook a few times and make sure i wasn't dreaming :D

+1 on that. I've bought a TON of used stuff from them online. If you have issues with the products you buy they don't give you a hard time when you return it to your local store. They even refund the shipping cost.

You can't beat a $41 shipping cost cross-country for a 4x12 cabinet, which is what they charged to ship my Bogner 412ST. Those guys do a hell of a job packing too, so you don't have to worry about something being damaged during shipping.

Yup..what everyone else said. GC can be a great place to score great deals on amps...and they've always honored the return policy with me. Guitars, I've only bought one or two and never tried to return them but a few Marshalls that I've returned they've never been a problem. My last Jubilee I bought from them.. :D

Also, what everyone else said. Guitar Center is great for high end used gear. If they have something that your everyday kid isn't going to buy, the price drops pretty quick. I once got a VHT Pittbull Ultra lead in perfect condition for $1100

GC has good prices but in my experience they do not accurately represent the condition of the amp.
But you can return it to locally if the used item is shipped from a remote store so that makes up for it....I guess.

Best way to buy used gear these days.

Plus 30-day money back garuntee.
Try that on a craigslist purchase

Also shipping from a far away location to your nearest location is really cheap
