It's a sad deal, but I'm at the point where I no longer trust buying from people online. There have been several items I've been tempted to buy, but short of long time users here, I'm just not willing to pull the trigger.

It really is a shame, but Cyndicate getting burned for that Herbert was the last straw for me.

Anyone else feeling the same?

You bet.
I was burned this summer for $350 on the Randall website by a RANDALL ENDORSEE!!!
Now how shitty is that?? :gethim:
Randall said they have no control over who we send our money to.
Its pretty risky but for the most parts.....but I want to think most people are honest.
Am I in the minority for this?

Thats what we all like to think, I got a reality check last month. I thought who would scam given you have all their personal info/address, but I guess some people have no fear and think they are safe across state borders. But I am not going to give up until I get all my cash back. Takes only a few fuckers to ruin it for the rest of us :( I am only going to deal with long time members from now on, and play it safe so I can avoid this bullshit again.

God...I understand Cyndicate but if anyone wants to buy something from me I trust Will and his clan only unless its ebay...
I guess I need 4000 more posts to buy from

very sad to hear  too bad there's always a richard-head somwhere out there pullin' crap! :gethim: :gethim: :gethim:

I've done a bunch of deals over the internet, but so far I've had some good luck... I thought I had some close ones (me just over-reacting), but I try to get as much info as I can just in case anything happens.

If something does happen, and you do have their info, there is always an option to contact the authorities in their home town. It's still unlawful and they will do something, it's happened several times over at Harmony-Central. Just try to get as much documentation as possible to back up your claims.

I know there are ways to protect yourself (credit card charge backs etc.), but just the pain in the ass of dealing with that shit keeps me away.

I'd rather pay a new price than experience double the diffence in annoyance.

It's doubly bad because I'm sure most of the people out there are honest, and some genuinely NEED to move their gear. I just can't seem to bring myself to take the chance. I hate theives

Likewise. I'll say this for anyone else reading this thread who may not know - JCJ is one of the nicest and most trustworthy guys I've had the pleasure of dealing with

I agree, I had a bad deal where I got ripped off by an asshole on this forum. He does have a friend that is still active on this forum (and is someone I respect I might add) that vouched for him.

Even though it was only a $200 deal it's still bullshit. I'm sure some of you know the way the conversation goes. Payment received... "oh, I gotta find a box"....... "oh, i've been slammed at work"....oh my wife/kid was sick....oh my car broke down... then it turns into unreturned emails. Then you are fucked.

I've been around this forum a long time and although I lurk more and post less now I still do follow along. I've had many wonderful deals with some outstanding players on this board and I would gladly deal with them again and hopefully they would deal with me again.

Yes, you do enter in a fair amount of risk when dealing with forum purchases but that comes with the territory.

Thank, Jeff.

Same goes for you.

I will say without hesitation that we have many members here I'd do business with in a heartbeat. Tons of great people on Rig-Talk! The whole deal with Will and that cock knocker in NY just soured me on taking too many chances.

Now someone I know sell me something quick!!!!!!! I'm jonesing

Sorry man, that sucks. I almost got scammed on a guitar. It was all communication, but then he got my money and boom gone. That said, a contact came through for me and saved face.

I'm done buying for a bit, unless I know / talk to the person.

Ive bought, sold and traded a good amount of stuff on the forums and have yet to have a problem. But I am always cautious. Heard too many stories of good peeps getting screwed

it's always sad to hear stuff like this. i've been fortunate over the last 4 years or so and haven't had any issues buying or selling on any forum i've used.

I have done only 1-2 deals that I did not know the guy but he had other members backing him up.

That said guitars and amps I will only buy from people that I trust both as a human as well as their knowledge.

Hell, all I buy is guitars or amps

I have had nothing but good transactions. If anything, I have been delayed sending stuff out due to my wife throwing out my box stash

Me too, I'd just like to keep the streak alive

I just seem to hear about bad deals more frequently now. Perhaps the economy. Who knows?

I guess I'm out of the loop. Someone got ripped on a Deizel Herbert deal?

Who was that may I ask? I am getting ready to do some business over there.

I have been lucky I guess. I have bought and sold guitars, amps, pedals, speakers, and MTS modules with no problems over the past 5 years. (Knocks on wood)
