I said this is wrong because he got fired for political reasons. Politicians censoring the media is a very bad thing.
Someone getting fired for racial shit is not even in the same league. From what I remember cast and crew said they wouldn’t do the show anymore before they even canceled it.
The two scenarios shouldn’t even be in the same convo to be honest

Kimmel wasn't politically speaking in the true sense...he was condoning and inciting civil violence plain and simple. He may have mentioned a political entity but the message went far beyond that.
You want to compare apples for apples in some twisted sense of justification? Well, Roseanne's didn't condone murder or incite civil violence because of her political position.

The controllers of the network did it and they didn't say they were forced or threatened if they didn't do so.

Here's a condensed timeline for the retarded:
Year zero: Kimmel makes outrageous remarks about the Kirk shooting, skirting dangerously close to violating 47 C.F.R. § 73.1217
1. TV viewers called into their local network affiliates and complained about Kimmel's monologue. The Affiliates got so many complaints that they pre-empted Kimmel's show.
2. Trump is not involved yet.
3. On a benny johnson podcast, the FCC chief says "well, kimmel's remarks were close to violating the FCC guidelines on misrepresenting crime, we might wanna look at that"
4. Trump is still not involved yet.
5. Bob Iger and the disney brass realize "oh shit, kimmel actually is really close to violating 47 C.F.R. § 73.1217! Kimmel, you have to apologize so we can try to smooth this over before you get extra double fucked"
6. Trump still hasn't gotten involved
7. Jimmy Kimmel says "fuck you Bob Iger, I know that you're my super liberal ally, and youre trying to look out for me, but I'm going to double down on my statements that the head of the FCC himself said require investigation because of 47 C.F.R. § 73.1217 if you let me back on the air"
8. Trump is still not involved
9. Bob Iger, realizing that Kimmel is going to seriously fuck over his entire media empire if he doesn't do anything, suspends the Kimmel show
10. Trump, hearing that Bob Iger suspended the Kimmel show, sends out a tweet saying "haha get fucked fgt"
Apparently, in clown world, this is clearly a conspiracy that Trump either personally got jimmy kimmel fired, or let loose his warhound Brenden Carr to do so on his behalf. Carr, by merely mentioning, "yeah we will have to investigate that or whatever" on Benny Johnson's podcast, was clearly shitting on the first amendment of the consitution and wiping his ass with free speech.
This is what JDel, Nutsack, and others are arguing.
I just want to make this clear for everyone who isn't batshit insane.

FWIW, once I realized they're not actually interested in any actual answers, points to consider, don't comprehend what is said, and will dismiss logic, facts and truth; it became obvious they are only looking for ammunition to keep the circular discussion going, not common understanding or resolution. As a result, I stopped engaging in any circular discussions with the main practitioners.

None of this has to do with politics. Your employer (especially in show business) has the right to fire you if you make them look bad and cause them to lose money.
I don't even think he should have been fired for that, an apology would have been fine.
But he did get into the "they" and "one of them" terminology which given the timeline was pretty insensitive imho. Very disrespectful, given the context. He pulled a Kathy Griffin, Madonna, etc. and at the worst possible time.
All the successful late night guys didn't get heavy into politics. That's just good protocol.

You left one part out. Somewhere between the FCC chief's remarks and Bob Iger saying oh shit, Benny & his staff contacted all the local ABC affiliates to talk to them about Brenden Carr's comment. Between that, public complaints coming in and advertisers considering pulling ads the local affiliates; namely Nexstar & Sinclair, decided to pull the show from the airwaves regardless of what Iger & Co. would do. That sparked Iger to shit his pants and have a discussions with Kimmel. Trump had no involvement in any part of this either.
