I love my Splawn cabs. I also have 2 cabs built by Paul Kress, a local builder, and they are equally awesome. I also agree with lolzgreg about the GB's. I really like those speakers with my 5150 (and the obviously my 5153).
Could not agree more .... actually better than most cabs that cost more.
There are not many cabs that are as good as the Fryette cabs ....
I have plans of building my own 2x12's. Suitcase style with top handles and a removable cover to protect the speakers. Spray covered with something like rhino lining, not that crappy stuff most are covered with...
Stealing from everyone else's designs to get exactly what I want.
The EVH cab does not have G12Ms; it has G12EVHs which are just relabeled G12M Heritage speakers and DO NOT SOUND GOOD IMO. Those speakers are really congested in the midrange and have a lack of balls. I would definitely go with Chinese G12Ms over them.
I have the CAA ported 2x12 w/M75s and its easily the best sounding 2x12 that I've used (including Mesa, Marshall, Fender Tonemaster, VHT, Matchless, and a few others). It's also the smallest and lightest out of all of those yet sounds huge...it easily keeps pace with a T75 loaded Marshall 4x12 and actually has a fatter bottom.
+1 on the CAA cabs!!! My buddy is the manager at the local GC and he's had a CAA 2x12 sitting there for like 6 months. Its got the Eminence Guvners in it but it sounds mean... I think its going for $400ish. Killer cab!!
