I'm a huge fan of technical players and the best word I can use to describe EJ's clean and violin tone is "ethereal". There was one night when I was actually playing "Cliffs of Dover" note for note, and then I woke up and was crushed with despair when I realized I would never reach that level no matter how much time I invest practicing. Nevertheless, I will still give it my best shot. There are so many songs of his that I listen to and think, "I wish I could play and sound like that". Goddamnit, it takes me like 10 minutes just to get though "East Wes". What's so appealing to me is that he's Rock, Jazz, and Blues in one awesome package.

Here's one of my favorite tracks off of his newest album.

And here's him playing his Strats through his pedalboard and tweed Champ (I bought my reissue because every famous guitarist seems to have one laying around for practice). Whaddya know? He sound like Eric Johnson :D

The vinyl sounds awesome His silver Sharpie signature seems to enhance it. (I am full of shit)

That's really cool! My wife and I share a couple of signed Bonamassa vinyls. Kage says he met EJ at NAMM once and he was really friendly. I like it when really talented people show humility.

Eric Johnson is a muscial genius. I just watched EJ live from Austin City Limits '88 for the umpteenth time and it never fails to drop my jaw. The guy has it all; Chops, Voice, incredible songwriting and compositional skill. Everything about him is so unique and original IMHO I truly believe ( and hope) that when people look back in 20+ years , he is remembered as one of the all time greats, up there with the likes of Jimi and Eddie.. This is all my opinion of course but at the risk of being flamed, I have to scratch my head if you dont agree..

Absolutely nothing not to agree with in this post!!! I took the wife to see him and she would completely agree with this also

Unbelievable. EJ "nails" what Hendrix originated. Good call. I've seen many a bar band player play the backwards solo. Big deal.

Like EJ but in terms of backwards solos, he'll never lay one down as memorable as the one in Are You Experienced.

Bro, You have no idea. He was with a bunch of other people when I saw him. I walked up and said " Hey Eric, my name is Kage and I just wanted to say thank you so much for the music and inspiration." He couldnt have been anymore humble and started asking me what I played, who I was into etc.

About 5 min in, one of the people that he was with came up and said " weve gotta get going , weve got that meeting" Eric turned and told him " Go on without me, Ill meet you there, they can wait, Im busy right now" Then he turned to me and apologized for the interruption LOL!!!

I was just some random fan and he treated me like gold; genuinely interested in what I had to say. At the risk of sounding like a star struck little girl, It was a pretty special moment .

He just laid down some standard blues s&%# and Kramer, Siddle or Chandler flipped the tape and made it sound cool.

It's all trickery and magic.
