I saw a USA Schecter at a GC for $950. Called up, "Hey, you guys still have that USA Schecter".

GC, "Ugh, ah, let me check"

A few minutes later, "Yeah man we have lot's of Schecters"

Me, "but I'm only interested in the USA Schecter you have in the used classifieds"

GC, "Ok, let me go check" Comes back on, "Yeah man we have it, come down and check it out"

Me, "Nice"

Get to the GC, walk around and don't see it. Ask a salesman and his response, "Oh yeah we sold that 2 days ago, that was a sweet guitar"

Me, FUCK YOU.

Their used listings are usually pretty up to date around here. If it's something that going to go quick, I just purchase it online for in store pickup. If I don't like it when I get there, I just get a refund.

That would've been a hell of a score. I just picked up a USA CET and it's an incredible guitar!

I give them the item # and ask for pics to my phone before I move on anything.

Was it the one in Springfield or the newish one in Somerville on the circle? I don't even bother with the one in Springfield anymore. Only been to the one on the cirlce a handful of times.

Will they still deliver a guitar from another store if you don't first buy it? I had an employee tell me that they would get anything from other stores if I wanted to check it out. Though they probably don't care, you could have them transfer an expensive Les Paul from a store across the country, and when they call you, tell them you bought a cheaper Les Paul two days ago off of craigslist. Let that sit in their store for a while

Buy it, ship it to you, return if you don't like it. I have at least 20 waay underpriced scores from them in the last couple years. Mark 2C-750. 1974 Original Marshall cab-450. 1982 2204, 799. Many more. Lots of morons working there but I love to stalk their used gear.

It was Springfield. It was listed on there just a few hours ago but they did finally take it down. 95% of that stuff now is imported stuff around $600. Sad, they used to carry some decent stuff. Now you just have to watch the classifieds.

Don't expect to find a deal at GC with Racerxrated in the game. When he says he stalks their used gear, he has it down to a science.

Too bad, the USA Schecters are ridiculously amazing, especially for the money you can find them used. Very few people realize how awesome their US CS is.

My brother had a similar experience with Sweetwater a few years ago. He called them to make sure they had an Uberschall in stock before making a four hour plus round trip. They said they had 'a bunch of them' and he asked a couple times if they were sure. They went and double checked. Yep! He got there to find what they had a bunch of was Uberschall pedals. He was pissed.

    It was worse when I worked night shift a few years back. I was probably the only dude on that website at 3am....

I've slowed down considerably.

I think.

I had the same thing happen a few months ago with a Taylor T5. Took my ladyfriend to go check it out. It's an hour 15 drive from me, so I called them up before we left. Said they still had it, but it was pretty clear the guy on the phone had no fucking clue what I was talking about. Asked him to make sure, he said "we've got it man, just come in." We left immediately to find it wasn't there of course, and the only employee in the place who even played guitar said she never once saw a T5 in the store to begin with.

And yes, she was the only one in the store who actually played. 3 employees in the place and they don't play guitar or bass.

So GC employees are still a bunch of brain dead, ass hats, huh?

Sounds about right.

They used to have nicer guitars in there, now it's all Epiphones, MIM Fenders and cheap <$500 Ibanezes. Even their amps are disappointing. There's really nowhere to try out any of the good stuff anymore.
