This may be old news but Rudy posted this on his Facebook site. Diary of a Madman tour.

Very cool...

I saw Rudy post this, cool to see the actual rider but his rig has been well documented, his "chip pan" Cornish board stayed pretty much the same going into his Super Lead

Those interested in how everything was set up with a visual rig rundown can see it here

With Randy it was all about the gear for me, nobody had shit like him, and of course the playing.

Sarzo had a monster rig as well.

Wish they did lists like this now but we have rig rundown on youtube so ...

I think the list is bogus. All I see is ordinary gear.

It was 82, the most complex thing was looping in the Echoplex... His tone is essentially a Super Lead with a Distortion +, a couple different pickups and a few effects here and there. The thing was loud as hell, that's why he has the kill switch on his board, Ozzy nicknamed it the chip pan because of all the hiss!

I really loved the look and set up of Randy's board, the metal casing with the expression pedals on the side looks way cool

No way. All the big names use boutique gear. It's impossible to get those tones without it.

...
How did I miss the obvious sarcasm

I seem to have that effect on people.
Being super sarcastic myself I feel extra embarrassed when I don't catch it!

Let's blame it on my geekiness over Randy Rhoads and I just got excited to talk about him again...

yeah....no way Randy could have played those 1959 Marshalls, Jacksons, Sandoval and an LP and sound like Randy Rhoads lol

Truth be known the guy could play through a pignose and still sound like himself even more so if he ran through his chip pan. I think the chip pan and the Altec speakers help caused the brittle tone he got.

I always laugh a bit when folks are overly concerned with what other people used, you can buy every single piece of ear someone else has and not sound at all like that guy ;)

hahaha... fair enough. I didn't know if this was common knowledge because I never got into Randy because, well, he stunk on the guitar.

Hey dude, what are the settings you used on that one thing you played?

I'm on a roll and don't want to stop but I hit the woodshed earlier and now it's time to hit the woodshop.

I know you're joking, but a good friend and I drove to Vegas last weekend to go see a couple Motley Crue shows and on the way there somewhere in the desert between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas we were talking bands and guitar players (Haven't seen the dude since high school a few years ago) and something came out about him not being a fan of Randy Rhoads... Literally almost jumped out of the car then, but I didn't wanna miss the Crue...

I mean, I know everyone has an opinion but...

The story about Randy's audition with Oz is that Oz spent all day or [days] waiting and watching guys setup monster rigs for their audition.

Randy walked up with a little bitty practice amp and just unloaded a Blizzard of notes and Oz said "thats it i want him" or something to that affect.

G. Lynch was past over for Randy and again after Gillis when J. Lee got the gig.

Oh I never heard that story... I know Randy and George were friends and were both up for the job but I didn't know it's cause he came in simple

I'm fairly certain my settings were exactly the same as I used on that other thing I played

Not sure if the light load-in is what sealed the deal but I did read that Randy was basically drug there by Dana Strum...Ozzy was burnt from watching players and partying all day and really didn't even want to wtach and Randy played-through a brownface Deluxe reverb rig

Dana Strum? Wow, he was in the scene early... What was he doing before VVI? Cause that's quite a while into the decade before they got that started...
