lol, you guys are the mod squad gestapo ! After i posted my comment, I looked at the amp closer and thought, shit, I bet what I think is a PPIMV is a frequency or bass boost as it reminds me a bit of how the bass boost was wired on my old laney (in terms of where it sits) and what I think are diodes aren't because they look like caps. So I'm wrong No shame in that!

PS- the "meat and potatoes" of my comment was the surprise over no additional preamp tube. Are we becoming the gearpage here? Yikes!

Not at all, but three tubes is plenty to have four tube gain stages in a single channel amp and as a guy who is making mods to his own amps, I just would have figured you'd know that. Why did you think there would be a need for another preamp tube?

For sure you can get a ton of gain from 3 preamp tubes, I just figured out of surprise that a guy like Doug (who seems to have gobs of gain) would have used more than three.. that's all. The experimentation I have done didn't do it for me, I think i like the basic 2204 circuit that much because whenever i tweak it, even if it is still tight, I find it loses character.Sounds good, just not as clean and raw as the stock circuit. ( I've liked the Jose best so far) Wonder if I'd like it or if i would find it too fizzy.

820 ohm cathodes on all 4 stages with 22uf bypass on all 4 stages , all 10k audio pots for the tone and master volume controls for the ultimate tone carving experience

.022 couplers between the stages for that nice tight bass response haha

and it has the clipping diodes on the cathodes to, for that extra punch !

oh and the 2 cathode followers , 1 before the eq and 1 after the eq between the jose master and regular master for ultimate harmonic complex carbohydrates 3rd order hamonic crystall lattice zen crunch.
