New BE 100 is different then this amp for sure. Also I never really set out to do a VH amp. It does all sorts of sounds. There has been circuit refinements transformer changes etc.
The demo Phil x did with the be-100 is badass for sure! I dig it.

I concur!!

And Phil did it on the straight BE channel. It's really the player on how little gain can be used. Hear it all the time one guy plays the BE and pulls it off another guy plays the same settings and it sounds like there is no gain at all. A lot of all these tones are all about the players hands period. Chasing a ghost.

There is no way a Wizard MM OT could have blown, there is a guy who is an endorsee and demos the amps at Namm and the amp shows who knows the seller of that amp you bought and says he is a stand up guy.

Really..  well if your looking for early Van halen(78-81)in my opinion Rockstah Mod5(Mark Abrahamin) is the way to go.Since his death the amps that he made and modded are going for sick money I was offered $3500 for the amp Mark modded for me and a friend that owns one was offered $3k.
You should have taken the $3500. It is an easy mod that is well documented over at Metro. Mark's excellent VH-style playing and well thought out reverb setting are a large portion of what people hear in those clips he did.

Steve

Yeah man, even his Iphone clips were pretty good. He definetely had the touch.

hallelujah

That's why i will save myself a ton of headache and money and just keep playing the Friedman designed GTO JUDGE MTS module with an EQ for boosting if needed. Organic enough sounding for me and close enough to the brown eye sounding stuff out there. 175$ used module, 450$ used RM100 = poor man's brown eye. The end.

PS- best MTS module there ever was is the brahma (correct spec).

This is Nitro's schtick. He's tried to go head to head with Dave F, John Suhr, Pete Thorn. It's just the same bullshit, but he's irritating someone else in this case (Steve). It's the same thing over and over. I agree it's the playing. I heard this guy named Terry Lauderdale (Hot for Teacher) do his VH stuff on a Mesa Mark III ( that's right, I wouldn't have believed it either) and it sounded pretty damn close.

And in my opinion, Phil sounded good on the BE video. Not really exact but close enough.

But that really wasn't what the thread was about until Nitro highjacked it (as usual). It was a comparison video between two amps.

you would be crazy not to take it. Those offers will be around a short time only. No magic in the mod just the mod.

Yeah, I am sure the intent was not to compare the two amps as far as the HOLY GRAIL of VH TONE goes, but the OP only played VH stuff, which opened up a can of worms!!

I'm just glad that "eddie van halen's fingers" don't sing ! ~

I agree, but every time Nitro gets involved it turn into a bunch of BS. It started as a civil conversation and then it goes to hell like really quick. I mean look how many pages already.......(steps down off of soapbox).

even though the gain is a little high, is this a VH II flavor . ? just the first vid

Yeah true dat.... and this fact really pisses me off because I am one of those guys who just doesn't have the "gainy hands". I have seen this phenomenon first "hand" as well if y'all will pardon the pun :D

I'm a TOTAL forum noob and I don't want to piss anyone off here...but this stuff about the hands as far as tone goes,to me, is TOTAL BS...take any 2 guitar band...Ratt, Judas Priest, Maiden, Night Ranger, Scorpions...and outside of WHAT'S being played, ID the player based ONLY on sound...(and don't cheat and read the liner notes). All the guys above sound the same to me playing their own gear in a room on the same day with the same producer, mics, mic pre, effects, etc...And I'm not saying Ratt sounds like Priest...just that each guy sounds like the other guy in his own band...just my .02 .
