Oh... and FYI I own a few cars that cost much more than a "Vette".

Matchbox or Hot Wheels?

Sorry, it was just hanging there, begging to be swung at.....Personally, I have no dog in this fight.

Carry on! :salute:

Brad...

Dannyeo, DigitalJams, Shiny-Surface really need to get a life, cause this stuff is getting old.

WTF dragging my name into this?

You had a good run, fooled 1000's on the various gear forums for over a decade and lost all your credibility in one fell swoop.

Fooled whom and regarding what? Care to show me post anywhere in which I say or compare myslef to Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, et al? I think not. I don't go around making un-provoked personal attacks about other members here either. You can't say the same.

What is clear is that you, and your little circle jerk brigade have issue with people who make more money, have better jobs, and nicer stuff. It's just not me either, you guys like to go after anyone who simply doesn't meet you level of street-cred. Look at your sig. I guess you'll someday tell us all what signed bands you guys all play in. Not.

Here's a newsflash... life ain't about street-cred or who is the best guitar player on whatever forum. It's sad because you guys are all a lot older than me, and have a bunch to learn about life.

Don't mention my name and you won't ever hear a peep from me. Mention me and it's game on.

Stop making shit up with the jealousy angle, the illusion has been shattered.

Still trying to figure out why someone who talks shit about Rig Talk and older 80's guys posts here.

I doubt that... as your past actions have shown.

Hey, how about those PT100's?

Definitely dig them...the negative feedback adjustment, the whomp, the clean....pretty great amp

Seriously though, I do listen to someones opinion who buys these amps or flips them or whatever, over a "player". Not that they can't be one and the same. I'm just saying, someone who can play there ass off can make anything work for them. I need all the help I can get.  I think Andy Wood has said, or something close to it, "I want an amp to make me sound better than what I am."

I was using a 5150 III before, and really liked the ch2 on that amp. John knew what I dug, and built a completely different amp, using his standard OD100 clean (the best in the biz IMHO) and then ch2 and ch3 are his own creation, based off knowing what I like.

Pete had a 5150 III, and wanted John to build the PT100 around a few changes he wanted made, based off of the 5150 III he owned at the time as the core tone.

I really dont understand how Wizard took this as lies and whatnot, Pete i do appreciate you stopping by because i could not find the thread where you mentioned it before. But i originally read this from either you or John. I was pulling this from memory from back in 2009/2010 as it is now 2012. :dunno:

As far as the topic goes i would much prefer a PT100 over a CCV anyday, John is a stand up guy

Yep the CCV has more gain, but I think that Dave is adding more gain to the SS100 per Steve's request. The CCV is still my favorite amp, but I guess that I just don't consider it modded Marshall. Its got its own thing happening IMHO. The Atomica would be a great choice as well but the features may be limiting depending on his rig. The Wizard is killer modded Marshall as well....
The CCV doesn't have allot of actual gain at all. It has more distortion which is perceived gain. The distortion from the diode clipping blends with the gain the amp has. If you take the diode clipping out in the middle position on the Jose master theres not allot of gain by high gain standards. Me, I like a blend of tube gain and diode clipping if done correctly in a circuit. The CCV does it right. The drive switch will give you more gain by lowering the cathode bypass cap value but even at the lowest value the amp is not super high gain unless a diode is engaged. I have a handwired CCV circuit that has loads more gain than the CCV but not all the options. It blends great with the jose master though. I am a fan of diode clipping but not a ton.

Well said glip

What that thread derailed but seems to be back on track :)
I tried a pt100 but never tried a CCV.
I loved the PT 100 but I admit that the CCV intrigues me :)

Try it if you can because they're different beasts and who knows, it might be what you're after.
