Just thought I would post what I have found to sound best in my Cameron modded Marshalls. I've been experimenting with a lot of preamp tubes lately, and for me, the perfect combination for both my Aldrich and HG Jose have been all Chinese with a Tung Sol in V1. The New Sensor Mullard isn't bad in V1 too. But I love the Tung Sol. I know some Cameron owners will disagree with me (hell, there's so many factors involved), but I thought I would throw my findings out there.

For what it's worth, I have SED Winged C's in my Jose for power tubes, and New Sensor Mullards in the Aldrich (which came with it). I think the SED's work THE BEST with the Camerons and can't wait to try some in the Aldrich.

That's all. :)

Believe it or not....I dig the shitty EH 12AX7's (when they work) the best in my HG Jose......i'll have to try the Tung Sol's.......

I just drooled all over my keyboard... :inlove:

I know it is wrong to covet thy neighbors wife, but what about thy neighbor's Cameron Marshalls?

I think you'd have a better chance of getting out of the neighbors house alive with the wife.

Its the 12AX7 LPS that Mark likes, he recommended them to me although i have yet to try them in my Aldrich!

I have a matched set of 4 SED Winged C EL34's on the way to me in the post. I still have the old tubes (GT E34L's) that were in the Cameron back when Randy (Rufus Leaking) owned it :D I think the EL34's will be sweeter sounding than the E34L's!

As far as preamp tubes go, i have a GT 12AX7C which i heard is a re-labelled 9th gen.. i also have a 2 other different brand Chinese 12AX7's. One just has '12AX7 China' written in red and the other just has '12ax7' in red writing. No idea what brand but the amp sounds killer!!

That Jose mod thingy of yours is a piece of shit.

Man, wait until you get those SED's in there. I had E34L's in my Jose when I first got it, (the previous owner was one of those tone deaf guys   ). When I put the SED's in, it sounded like a completely different amp. It was a HUGE difference. You might want to check with Mark to see what you should bias it at too. My Aldrich has a sticker on the back that says to bias at 39. The plate voltage is 466. All my Camerons i've had were biased real hot.

You're going to love those tubes though.

Im just about to put in the SED's now, i have my amp open and ready for biasing. My Aldrich has a plate voltage of around 462, not far off yours! Il bias them at around 35-37, should be about right!

Cant wait to hear the amp when its done

I put the tubes in and biased them this afternoon....

Wow big difference compared to the E34L's, and i mean it in a very good way!!!

The amp sounds more alive, punchier, and also feels better now. I never played the amp without a boost before, and i have been playing allday long on the Vintage1 setting with no boost at all. The tube change really seemed to make it feel better and easier to play.

Also the amp was humming a bit when i had it loud before with the E34L's, probably due to them being old... since retubing with the EL34's, the hum has gone!

SED's rock!! Il be sticking with these from now on.

Hell yeah man!! I knew you would love them. Now just try that preamp tube combination I told you about. I have yet to put the SED's in my Aldrich (Have the NS Mullards) but have the SED's in my HG Jose. I think i might do a swap this weekend and see how they sound.

By the way.......I miss that GMW. I really REALLY regret selling it man. I've been thinking about it a lot. You got lucky man, you cought me at one of my weak/stupid times.
