I think i remember Ralph saying Mark has cabs with the celestion 65 watters, which sound greenback-ish.. Maybe those are what he voices the amps around!

I would love to get a quad of 65's but theyre damn expensive!

the cabs he'll be selling for the new amp line are going to be loaded with H30's.
no idea what he used for modding?
H30's or H30/CL80 X pattern acually.

I've been thinking of trying out H30's as well. So far I've got no experience with them.

Does Mark prefer the Anniversary (regular) of the Heritage H30's?

Im not sure, but i heard the Heritage ones were much brighter sounding than the regular H30s!

My friend is coming over with his Bogner 4x12 with H30's on Sunday. Can't wait to hear how they sound. He's bring his Jose too.

That should be great. Can't wait to hear what you think about them.

Dan & J.B. and anyone else. . . check out this tread I found on TGP: it was a soundclip test of a Celestion Gold, V30 and H30 with all the same mic and setup etc. I think I want a Gold now!

Thanks for chiming in Mark. But you didn't make my decison any easier!! LOL!! :D

I'm going to do a lot of research and make a decision. Not that it matters anyway because i'm broke. :aww:

I love the Classic 80. It's my fav hi wattage speaker. It mixes really well with a GB or a H30. I usually put a 421 on the 80 and a 57 on the greeny/H30 and mix to taste. The 80 is very even without being dull or lifeless. It doesn't have any weird/annoying spikes in the upper mids or high end. It obviously has a good tight low end. I have a 4x12 that has an 80, GB, H30 and a Boogie Cel 90 in it and I more often than not go with the combo of the 80 with the greeny/H30.

"I use the 65w but I like 80s,Green back,Black backs,All of the H30 types and the Vox blues and the new Gold's are great! Allot depends on the Cab too. Most Marshall Cabs(not the speakers) ..to me... sound different from one to another so......there's allot of play there. Bogner Cabs(hi end) are very consistent so are the older 5150 Cabs(low end) too. If I was going to buy a used Cab..... these are the ones I would look for. And I'm no master I'm just a jackass who plays guitar and fixes and tries to make amps. Let your own ears guide you. Its the sum of all the parts.' -end quote-

Thanks for the info. After hearing that clip of the Gold I'm thinking this must be the best all around speaker; but who knows? It has a high db sensitivity and you heard the volume increase on those clips because of that, is my guess.

The 65 is always one I've wanted to try, since it is Greenbackish from what I've heard a few people say. Many guys who play Hi Gain heads seem to love them.

J.B. or Dan or ...., you guys got any experience with 65's?

Hey bro, i have never played the 65s but Ralph (Gainfreak) played a Marshall thru the 65s and he told me it was like a Greenback on roids!! So i guess its like a beefed up greenback sound, with better bass response and obviously more headroom!

Hope this helps some!

Never liked the 65's. Even back in the 80's. No cut, no voice. It's quite amusing that they're now a buzz speaker and even expensively reissued by Celestion. It's like 70's Gibson pickups becoming collectable.

Really!? I must try these out when I get the chance, so I can finally find out what these sound like for myself.

Thanks guys.

I'm not in the Cameron club, but I am in the Marshall extended family.
I have been a GT 12ax7C in V1 fan for quite sometime, but I have recently tried the GT 12ax7 mullard instead in my 2204, and like the high end better. I love the clarity of the "C" but find it a tad bright with this Marshall for my taste. Plus the Mullard is bigger sounding.

P.S. I am also a user and proud supporter of the SED Winged C's.
Yep, i have some GT Chinese too and they work pretty good too, but I've had some go bad on me pretty quick. The GT Mullard I hated and had ever worse reliability issues with them. If you like the GT Mullards, try the New Sensor Mullard, it's A LOT better than the GT, trust me. ;) No really, trust me, lol. :D

I like the GT 12ax7m's and the new Sensor Mullard EL34 reissues as a combo. Havent had any issues with them at all. It just run stock Marshalls with Strats so it works out great for. Tesla EL34L's are another fav as well.

Did you ever try that combo in a Cameron dude?

Nah...Mark does great work and has great ears, but his mods are not my cup of tea.
