To me, guitar, amps, fx, etc... are tools to make music, and most of them cover similar territory, but I realize not everyone has the same tone targets in mind, nor do they necessarily require the versatility of having a large selection of gear. Sometimes, close enough will do, while at other times, 'Close enough' is too far away.

When it comes to MY gear, my opinion is the only one that matters, unless I'm getting paid to play something for someone else, THEN having the tools that will facilitate THAT, sure is useful-- BUT only if one knows how to make it happen.

I don't think too many are bashing Ceriatone as much as ripping on Camerons. But the truth is, to a man the people ripping on Camerons haven't EVER played one. Guaranteed.

I think the Ceriatone products are a great bang for the buck for a hand wired amp, with great options.
My personal experience with one was great until the PT went out. Would I buy another? Of course!

I would just order one new without the PT/OT.
Lots of great options out there for modded Marshall tone for sure. Friedmans, Bray, Landry, Suhr.....
But the big separator for me when it comes to Camerons is the feel under the fingers. Unique.
Like the differences between the 2C+ and a Mark III or IV...similar crushing tone but the FEEL is unique to the C+ and not the same for the 3 or 4.

Thing is, by buying a Cameron you are supporting....the seller of the amp who isn't named Mark Cameron. Because unfortunately he isn't doing new amps these days.

But don't worry, when one comes up the seller isn't losing any sleep over you not wanting to buy. He knows someone else will be happy to snap it up instead. Within 12 hrs probably.

My point was not about the sound of the amps though. And I know you both know that. But for anybody else reading this, my point is not about Cameron vs. Ceriatone in terms of what sounds better. Because that's subjective. That's opinion. This dude is making a very specific, explicit, verifiable claim about the parts used inside the amp. Whether or not those parts sound good or bad is not the point. The claim is: "they are built with the absolute worst parts." And that's just not true. And I think I've provide proof of that.

The only Ceriatone amps I played were back when mentoneman and I did the 1st high gain amp shootout video, and they sounded like a typical Marshall to me (Not enough gain on tap and needed to be turned up to get the tone sweet spot).

As far as Mark Cameron goes. He's my friend, and if I needed anything, I'd just call him on his cell. He offered to do some mods to my NAMM proto Atomica. IF, I fly to LA-- he said bring the amp, and he'd mod it for me right there. He's ALWAYS been ULTRA Cool to me, and I have confidence in his engineering prowess because the results speak for themselves.

Agree re: the 'feel' and responsiveness of Cameron amps and mods. Nothing lacking, imo. Now, IF my Atomica were a channel switching amp... Ahhhh, that would be cool, but having the multi-amp rig eliminates the 'need' to have it do that, otherwise I'd have 2 Atomicas. I still want a CCV (bucket list)

Well... If the principle were purely financial/monetary gain for the builder then yes it would become a moot point, but that's not all it's really about for me. That's just me talking and IMO. YMMV.

Now I'm curious. What principal are you talking about, which would stop you from purchasing a used awesome amp that sounds great?

I know exactly where you are coming from and what you are saying and couldn't agree more. Unlike most of the people bashing Ceriatone, I actually own one and am very happy with it right alongside my more snooty, boutique amps, which I also love. I actually have a second Ceriatone ordered and on it's way to me soon. Now, given the amps I own would I actually order a SECOND Ceriatone if they were junk? Haters gonna hate, nutswingers gonna swing, bitches gonna bitch, so on and so on.

To me, guitar, amps, fx, etc... are tools to make music, and most of them cover similar territory, but I realize not everyone has the same tone targets in mind, nor do they necessarily require the versatility of having a large selection of gear. Sometimes, close enough will do, while at other times, 'Close enough' is too far away.

When it comes to MY gear, my opinion is the only one that matters, unless I'm getting paid to play something for someone else, THEN having the tools that will facilitate THAT, sure is useful-- BUT only if one knows how to make it happen.

I have no beef with that whatsoever. I'm glad you are happy with your gear. You do have a lot of absolutely badass gear that I would LOVE to play and try out. I hear your man. It's like I've done business with Terry the Tubetramp back in the day and never had a problem but other people did, so I have no problem with him. But if you are launching out hate at a builder that you have no personal experience with because of stories you have heard, that's kind of a reach. BTW, I'm in Hawaii too.

I was more interested in what appeared to me, to be the disconnect and apparently not differentiating between the individual and the products.

Call it anything you like. You should notice I never launched any HATE at anything or anyone and I never stated anything negative about the Cameron amp itself. As I said earlier, I'm sure they sound great and I'm happy for anyone who has one and is happy with it. I, however, will not own one. I didn't knock an amp I've never tried, just said I won't own one. I'm entitled to that choice and opinion and don't much give a damn if anyone else likes it or not.
