I had a 2:90 and it didn't even compare to my S500. The 500 is definitely the secret to Billy's huge mellon collie live tone. I miss mine a lot... On the Siamese Dream tour he would sometimes switch it out with a Marshall 100/100.

Looks like the 9200 right there. It's hard to see since it's blurry as hell and there's with so little photos since he uses the Strategy 500 most of the time. I've heard some good things about the 2:90 though. How would you think a mesa 50/50 would sound? I heard those are pretty good

I've never played a 50/50 but the 2:90 would be fine since James used it. Either way slam the front of the JMP-1 and jack the gain.

Or an S400….more 3D and ‘present’ than the 500 according to a guy who’s had both. Either of those amps are going to be a requirement if you really want to nail that tone. 6L6 power is different than the Marshall you use now.
