Can anyone pinpoint what changed in Yngwie's tone?

I’m no help but I was listening to some live Alcatrazz a few days ago and man Yngwie sounded badass . Steeler , Alcatrazz and his first three solo albums are my faves

The first 3 solo albums plus odyssey all rule for me lol I guess it’s the first 4 I love

I really think this is the biggest culprit, the lack of intensity first and production second.

That said, he sounds fucking great live and I think every guitar player should stand in a room with his wall of Marshalls to know what it sounds/feels like. I could only handle about 10-15 seconds of standing 10 feet in front of it.

He did a masterclass down here a couple years ago, he lives about 25 mins south of Ft Lauderdale so I wasn’t surprised to see a ferrari behind the venue and a U-haul in the front for just his Marshalls (no band). My buddy runs sound there and was having a bitch of a time getting the (non-mastered) backing tracks loud enough in the PA and the fucking guitars weren’t even coming out of the PA!

To whom it may concern, yes I am referring to his recorded tones and his playing sloppiness. I thought his Trilogy tone was good but maybe a little shrill compared to RF and MO. To me, Seventh Sign showed the first signs of muddy tone, though overall the production on that album sounds great to my ears. If it is more in the production than the rig, then I wonder what Yngwie did to make everything sound like mud pie?

I don't think if Yngwie reverted back to the FS1 and removed the reverb and compression that it will sound like his debut album tone so there has to be a missing link. There is a hidden gain knob somewhere that he turned up without anyone knowing ?.
