Can anyone tell if this Budda Suoerdrive 80 was modified?

Picked this up on Reverb and it's not as loud, not does it have the same punch as I remember. I had the master at 10-11:00 and from what I remember that would be almost unbearable (i've had 2 of these years ago)

Checked the power tube and they seem fine. I'll check the preamps tomorrow but I noticed a number of what seemed to me, modifications from the original amp. Budda could have just done it this way but I don't know.

Those amps are very loud stock.

Yeah, I know. I've owned 2 but it's been a while. I remember a sudden surge of volume and punch at around 9:00 on the master. On this one it's a big bassy tone with no punch. Same thing with the clean channel. I remember nice punchy clean tone that really snapped when you fit a string. That snap is missing here. I'll try to run it louder later to see where on the dial it sounds like I remember. I'll check the preamps too

I would still like to know if something has been done to this amp so I can contact the seller. I'm thinking some sort of master volume mod was done to it to make the sweep more gradual.

Didn’t Peavey buy Budda? Maybe it’s a pre/post Peavey thing? I am just thinking out loud.

Looks like Jeff Bober has a new company, maybe he'd be able to look at it and get it up to spec. Think Friedman designed the preamp section on these...good luck.
They are paint peeling loud even with volume barely on BTW

Peavey did purchase Budda, but this is Pre-Peavey. Anyway, I did email Jeff Bober and he confirmed that it was substantially modified.
