I know he used an old ADA Flange unit but I mean to hit two birds one stone sort of thing, can the MXR EVH do that thing or get in the ballpark. I really dig the hooked on music lower gain stuff but would love just one spot on my pedalboard to do it. Also considering the Pastfx hot for flanger pedal if it's " other" flange sounds cover more ground.

I'm not a huge Travers fan, so not really qualified to answer your question, but I do have both the ADA and MXR as well as several PastFX flangers. If you're considering PastFX, I'd recommend the 80/A as it gets much closer to the ADA than the Hot for Flanger. Both are great flangers, as are the originals they're based on.

The MXR will get close to the ADA, but the ADA is really unique at its more extreme settings. From what I've heard from Travers, the MXR isn't going to quite get there, IMHO. To me, the MXR is warm and wet and the ADA is cold or dry. ADA always reminded me of Killer of Giants, although I have no idea what was actually used.
