For those specific resistors, Mouser charges 47% because they sourced them from India. Vishay makes them in both India and the E.U. Tariffs are applied based on country of origin (where they're made). If Mouser got them from the E.U., tariff would be 15%. You can also choose to buy them from the E.U. instead of India... Your choice.

Same goes for the other parts you need, it just takes more work. Only you can decide if it's worth the trouble. Or... buy them from Mouser, pay more, and get them quicker/easier. You pay a premium for convenience.

Made in China: 10% reciprocal, stacked
Made in Taiwan: 20% reciprocal, stacked
Made in E.U.: 15% reciprocal, CAPPED
Made in India: 25% reciprocal, stacked
Made in Brazil (haha) 10%, stacked

Note: tariffs from the E.U. are capped. They are not additive. hint hint wink wink nudge nudge.

Well, why in the hell is Mouser buying from India? They should be getting them direct from the EU. Doesn’t make sense.

At least the reason is more clear now. The tariffs stack depending on where they come from. That makes me feel better that Mouser isn’t arbitrarily adding 32% markups.

Maybe all of the EU's components are being diverted to the war effort?

Man I dunno. I’d like to, though. Or maybe the EU doesn’t produce enough. I checked Distrelec and RS, both in the EU. One had 30 resistors in stock and the other only 22. It’s must be a supply issue.

I order 100 or 200 at a time, depending on the value. So that doesn’t work for me unfortunately.

Also, the EU is gearing up for war with Russia.
Which is funny, because it's palpable just how afraid Europe is of Russia.

What they're really gearing up for is to try to make the US fight Russia for them, what with them being so very very scared and all. But it appears something went wrong with that plan.

Yes, a very odd scenario but the EU countries are flat busted broke. Maybe a war is their only option. When gobernments are broke, they always go to war.

Here's a single search for that part number from a bunch of different suppliers. You might find one of them has a price you like. There's a Japanese supplier that has them for 1.32 Yen each per 1,000 with a minimum 5,000 order. That's $8.40 for 1,000 = $42 for 5,000 resistors. Enough to last you a lifetime. But says they ship from within the US, so I'm not sure how taxes/tariffs/duties would be applied, if at all.

Mouser's price is $0.35 each or $0.15 per 100 or $0.09 per 1,000 (before tariffs).

If you order 1,000 from a few of these other places, you might save money over buying them from Mouser per 100 at a time. There are places selling them for $0.06... Even with a 47% tariff that's still cheaper than Mouser without a tariff!

Maybe they stock other parts you need. Research time :)

Tariffs hit redplated and you’re helping him. Tariffs hit me and you tell me it’s not about me and block me. Your an ass kissing POS Mike

Also with tariffs stacking based on source of shipment and not source of origin, it goes to prove its very dangerous to have purchase orders and outstanding tariffs not paid doing it yourself. The safest option may not be the cheapest up front but I can only imagine how complex this gets trying to buy to skirt tariffs.
