can someone make a Mesa Boogie Cult checklist?

inspired by the marshall players thread, someone do one for boogie amps now!!! I should know them all, as i'm in the cult myself, but i'm too lazy to think right now and was hoping someone else would for me.

Something something Master of Puppets? Honestly I don't see Boogie owners engaging in the same sort of self-deceptive behaviors (or at least not repeating them ad nauseum here). And the amps, at least MkIV onward and the rectos, are much more suitable for general use with functional volume and gain controls, plenty of gain, good EQs, loops, etc.

I guess we could make fun of nu metal gorillas, but that's sort of like kicking 4 year olds :ROFLMAO:

Is it good or bad to boost a recto?

Depends how much you like the sound of the boost vs. how much you like how a recto sounds. I'm not a recto owner myself but if I owned one I wouldn't boost it. Most variants have a good gain sound as-is.

For the Rectos as long as you do the Serial FX Loop Mod and swap a few components you can do the G to C to F to A mod skipping B and H. As far as boosting, that is all preference but I used to run an EQ before and after my boosts and then toggle an EQ after the 2nd EQ for final tweaking. If your loop is modded, you can repeat that pedal chain in a Serial FX Loop for added tightness and control, but don't do it if you still have the old Parallel loop.

Supposedly the R.I. takes care of all of this so I've heard :dunno:

Also, there is a modder on one of boogie boards that is coming out with a boost/EQ combo pedal that allows you to punch in Recto, Mark, Badlander, Stiletto, Twin Reverb, Silverface, Plexi, JTM, JCM, Vox, Pink Taco, whatever you want. You can literally buy 3 of the same amp and be gig ready

I don't know anything about Marks but evidently you can mod any one of them to the III C+++

Or buy some more EQs :dunno:

What if you love the sound of a recto, but wish it wasn't loose butthole?

-bi-weekly phone calls to mike b to pick his brain about how much more you can sound like Hetfeild or Petrucci
-won't even entertain another brands amps
-being ok with new amps being beta tested on the player, resulting in a confusing array of revisions of certain amps. do you know how many Blue Angel revisions their are out there? at least 3. roadster has a few revisions, the dc-5 has at least 2, the tremoverb has the one "you want" (later versions), and the one you "Don't want" (earlier ones with ldr problems, switching issues, channel bleed, etc).
-750hz slider never sits above the lowest hash mark on the dial.

honestly it would be really easy to make a mesa boogie cult checklist

all you have to do is everytime someone prefers anything else, just squeal "USER ERROR!!!!1" at the top of your lungs in a high pitched, lateral lisp voice, and then pretend that Dream Theater have ever written anything worth a shit

I still pretend like Scenes from a memory doesn't give me goosebumps in that final track, and that the solo in Fatal Tragedy isn't bad ass. I'd go "hasn't written anything worth a shit in 20 years", but that debate is for another thread. we're here to poke fun at the boogie obsessed. :poop:
