Can we talk about Matt Heafys guitar strap?

False. I see old heads say this constantly. Yeah, take up space on the board forYe something negligible.
Yep, one more hunk of shit to haul to gigs. One more jumper cable as a fail point. My clip on fits in the guitar case. I've heard people say they look like crap but now you can get ones that clip on and the display sits behind the headstock. I guess I'll just offset my lack of cool with my purple fur hat and white leather jacket.

I always want that mute button on my board so I always make room for a tuner. True Bypass if I'm concerned about that but sometimes I need the buffer anyway so now it is serving three purposes, Tuner/Mute/Buffer.

Thanks for the compliment. I was trying to write a response last night but when I read it this morning it came off like I was insulting you for wearing jorts when I had been trying to post some Ed Hardy shirt pics above my reply to you that didn't work. I spent all day friday and sat cutting solos for a record so my brain was non functional by last night so if that came off wrong, it wasn't intended.
I never thought you were insulting me, but i have thick skin. I catch a lot of shit for the jorts, but i am a boomer at heart, and they just work for me

Granted I do think it looks ridiculous and I’m not a fan of the band. But man who cares if he wants to use a full body harness to hold up his guitar lol. Apparently two straps is enough to get guys panties in a bunch. There are real life problems out there to go on rants about, this isn’t one of them.
If you bought the strap, we are not mad. You can still be in our club.

Most the time I go play with people, I don't even take my board so.... Yeah, what am I supposed to do here? Take a pedal with me everywhere just to tune?

Also, most tuner pedals affect the way the guitar sounds.

I would say that being so petty about a style of tuner is 'less grown up' than bending to some rando's will and opinion of you.....

If we are speaking purely about accuracy then I am going to get out my huge strobe tuner like with my horns and get to tuning! Then I'll be really grown up!
My wireless unit has a tuner on the pedal. Very convenient

I don't have a problem with jorts but my place is rugged so I always wear jeans and boots or I get tore up. My brother wears jorts playing drums in the summer at outdoor gigs. My old man used to rock the new balance shoes and jorts. He used to use a spoetzel brush on his hair in the shower. He was rocking the pimped out Waldoch suburban. We thought maybe he was mexican cause his hair was black and his skin was olive. Then after my grandma died and we made a trip down south it all made sense.

Agreed. Only Dime, Gary Holt and Anthrax get a pass for that.

I remember discussing this with my own (cover)band, when we played some shows together with international touring acts...When everyone was back stage and these guys would walk out through the venue, just by looking at them, you'd know "These are the artists". And cargo shorts, flip flops and an oversized T-shirt was NOT part of that wardrobe. So, while we already were putting in the 'dressing up' effort, that moment where we all were like 'see, even without them holding their instruments when walking through the venue, you know they are the artists', was a reminder of the importance of looking the part. And I too laugh at all the idiots trying to downplay that shit, like it's not important. I'm like "Look dude, you're the one paying $15-20 to see ME on stage...when your band in your lawnmower garb can only get some aunts 'n uncles and bar staff to see you for free and *maybe* a beer or two."
There is nothing worse than going to see a band, they get on stage and either 1) they look like they just rolled out of bed after sleeping through their alarm and got dressed in the dark or 2) don’t have a cohesive look like they play in the same band.

I can’t take a group seriously that doesn’t take themselves seriously. By that I mean a band that can’t be bothered to understand that from a concert goers perspective, we want to see a show. If you’re a metal band, there is an idea of what that looks like to folks, if you’re a stoner rock band, same thing. Folks judge with their eyes before their ears.

Lemme be Switzerland between you guys. :giggle:

I'm with @GuitarGuy08 that I'm not interested in having to add a dedicated tuner pedal to hog up pedalboard real estate as well as the possibility to tone suck. Looking at you, Boss TU-2. :cautious:
I usually don't gig with 'pre-amp' pedals, only with a handful of pedals placed in my FX-loop. And tuner pedals shouldn't go there IMO.

So.... I also use clip-on tuners from time to time.... BUT...
here I'm with @DanTravis62 , it *is* fuckin' ghey AF to leave the clip on your guitar's head DURING THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' GIG!
I use mine to tune during sound checks after the guitars have adjusted to the venue's temperature and take it off again.

One work-around that tackles both issues, is when I play wireless, using my Shure GLXD16's built in tuner/mute.
My 2nd work around is to use a battery powered Boss TU-12 or a Korg DT-7, using a special 'Tuner' pre-output from the Engl Invader 100.
That way it's not in-line in the signal chain.

It looks ghey for the frontman to be staring at a tuner at his feet between songs. It looks ghey to keep clipping a tuner onto the headstock between songs at an outdoor gig when the temp goes from 70 to 45 in three hours. I'm there to entertain and a clip on makes that easier. I guess I'll just get teh robot tuners next time.
