Gents,

I'm thinking of getting a Fender combo to use with my Friedman BE-OD pedal as well as a few pedals I'll get down the line. Just need something for home use and want a tube amp. I saw the Champ X2 which seemed to be good and I had a friend with a Blues Jr. years ago. I guess I need to have the capability of an effects loop too. I don't really care about volume because I play at home and I know tube amps get loud anyway.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks! - RR

I'm thinking about going this route for home as well so I'm curious what responses will come in. I'd like a low (ish) watt 1x10 combo that doesn't sound boxy and would love the BE OD. I had a Hot Rod Deluxe a few years ago and while it is great for pedals, the volume jump made it not so good for home use.

Deluxe Reverb is tough to beat. Takes pedals great and at 22 watts it's a great bedroom amp. I put an Alnico Gold in it and gig with it, awesome sounding amp.

Yep, I'm running the Friedman into mine and it's pretty sweet for home use.

The new Mike Landau inspired Hot Rod Deville 212 is great bang for the buck, as a pedal platform. These are way different from the standard Hot Rod Devilles.
Takes high gain really nice. The speakers are right, no harsh top end, no useless drive channel, just 2 clean channels with foot switchable volumes. It can go to whisper to roar and can be used with lower output levels. You get probably the most usable pedal platform for a third of a price of a Bella or a Buxom Betty. Check one out.

I'd like to try a suhr Bella but the deluxe reverb is the fender combo I'd recommend. Takes pedals well, can set for clean or edge of breakup. Great choice for sure.

I´d recommend the lower-wattage Rivera combos, mainly the Pubsters and Clubsters. Great buys on the used market.

Never heard of these until now. Just went to the Fender site, and this looks like the ultimate pedal platform. Has an FX loop as well.

I was originally going to say Deluxe reverb. I have one of the newer 68 Customs and it's really nice, but no FX loop.

If it fits the budget, this ML Hot Rod looks like the perfect amp for this application.

The new BassBreaker series sound great! Not sure how well they take pedals but you could always grab your BEOD and hit GC to sample them.

I just bought an Hot Rod ML 212 to be my pedal platform, for 1000$ it's a steal even new. My BE OD will arrive next week, if you are interested I will make some videos of it.

landau 2x12

bassbreaker is cool as well but not as good clean nor as versatile a pedal platform

Thanks everyone for the replies! I thought the Deluxe Reverb was a $1000 amp? I need to look again. :)

Silverface Vibrolux reverb. I bought one some months ago for $650. Perfect amp, great tone.

Thanks!

I got to thinking about the $1000 Deluxe Reverb and thought, "what's another $500"? :) Really for great tone, it is worth it I guess. The sad thing is I don't NEED an amp because I have an Axe-Fx II. Plus I've been wanting an acoustic.

Dangit. Here we go with G.A.S.
