Any Candlebox fans? I wore this album out back in '93; it's one of the few "grunge" albums I still listen to. Anybody know what amp Peter K. used on the disc? I seem to remember reading that it was a Peavey VTM. :dunno:

I know he also had an old Dual Recto back then. Our buddies worked with Kevin Martin on their latest album and we'll be playing a gig with them on Friday. I'm sure they talked guitar along the way. I'll ask and see if they have any insight.

I saw the same thing somewhere before, I think it was on another forum. One of the guys was saying he used a Les Paul and a VTM. Don't know how much truth there is to it :dunno:

I saw them in '94 and he was playing through an older 2 channel Dual Rctifier fullstack and a Peavey Classic fullstack. It sounded awesome, I do remember that. I had always thought he used a Dual Rectifier for the dirty tones, but I read somewhere that it was a VTM. I had a 2 channel Dual Recto and it doesn't quite sound like the album.

Funny thing....I still listen to that album myself!!
What a killer CD!!

When I was at Ohio State they came through and played at The Newport. The show was great. I jammed to that CD last night actually.

I never heard that he used a VTM on the album. I do know that I had a Tverb back then and could get very close to his tone.

I saw them twice back then..
He had a Roland JC 120 with Marshalls...
2nd time I think he had Mesa but that was the tour for the 2nd album..

Love that album

I saw them at MSG in NYC when they opened for Rush. Whatever he used it sure sounded like he used 2 amps with a chorus pedal. Thier first album sold 5 million copies while the second album just bombed.

When they were hanging around town .... before they broke ... I felt the singer was one of the most annoying people I ever met. I remember feeling sorry for the other guys in the band .... putting up with him. My little brother was pretty good friends with a few of them.

Some good shows at the Edge back in the day, you can see his Recto heads here....

I saw them get booed off stage in 94 at Shoreline opening for Metallica but that was because people were pissed that Alice in Chains cancelled but Layne freaked out after Kurt died.

haha

me too!

I had it on last night as a matter of fact

Far Behind has always been one of my favorite songs/tones. that chorused clean tone is just awesome. sounds like a JC120

I asked Peter a while back and he told me he used a VTM for sure and I think the second amp was the mosfet Marshall for leads. He's used a Peavey Classic too.
Jerry

Peavey Classic 100 head and a Marshall Artist. Killer disc btw.

When my college band opened for them in 95, he was playing a couple of Les Paul standards, a PV Classic 100 Stack and a Marshall Stack. He was a really cool guy.

We toured with them a couple years ago, and Peter was using a Soldano SLO. It may have been a Decatone. . .but I'm pretty sure it was a SLO.

On their tour for their first album he was using a DUAL RECTO and a PEAVEY CLASSIC 100 live. In the studio I'm not sure but live it was this for sure because I was a roadie when they played EdgeFest in WI back in the mid 90's.

I actually have guitar mags from the 90's with him in them except I am at work rightnow..
November 2009

It seems like I remember reading in one of the gtr mags a long time ago where he said the Peavey VTM. Those amps sounded good, but they were strange with that eq thing..
