Yep and I don't give a fuck what you say about this place...it AIN'T what it used to be.

But in the meantime, I'm doing okay.
You'll get no argument from me. I was just wee lad when I lived there and have only been as a visitor in adulthood.

I have no idea how anyone lives there. Sorry @The~Kid
seems the population is leaving the droves yet they still have the same electoral votes

where are the making up the lost souls from........hmmmmmmm
Right on man. Problem is those who did vote against Dems and could afford to move away made it easier for the Dems to stay in power as they drove out the Middle Class......

Now though it's getting to the point where it don't matter and even Democrats are realizing the BS and hopefully the State turns Republican in the coming election given trends.

I had a great time living there from '85-'87, but then I was like 17, living in a Ford Pinto, doing lots of coke and trying to get a deal. Turns out it was a bad time to be in a band that was Black Sabbath in a Bon Jovi universe. Lots of fine ass women who loved fucking long haired musicians though so it was cool.

Because while they lose 100k per year to Texas alone there are around 40k Texans moving their per year. The reality is love it or hate it there is still a lot of money and opportunity in CA. My cousin left for FL but kept her business operational there and flies back all the time. I'm sure on the tax end of it she is saving a lot of money living out of state but we aren't talking about poor people.

Sounds awesome. You should write some memoirs about that time.

I've only been there as a visitor, but it sure seems like a beautiful place. Problems like any other popular place, sure. But it seems to be one of the true gems of the USA. Consider me a fan of California.

Also, despite some minor population decline, the GDP keeps rising and just passed Japan. That state you hate provides 14% of US GDP and basically funds whatever red state you live in.

It has gotten to the point that I can no longer sympathize with victims of disasters in Ca.
Wildfire or mud slides, I picture as rich fucks who put their multi-million dollar homes in expensive wilderness areas, then wonder why nature is still taking its course as properties are demolished.
Beyond stupid.

Dehumanization of others is a solid sign that you're in a cult.

I wrote a paper once for an English Comp II class called “ Surfing in December”. It was primarily about being on Venice Beach on my birthday. Being from St. Louis it was extraordinary to be swimming outdoors in December.

I’ve also written a few posts here and in another place about my time in LA that were long enough to be considered memoirs.

I stayed in Buena Park near La Mirada and interacted frequently with a gang called ESBP ( East Side Buena Park). This was well before they became affiliated with the Mexican Mafia. Spent a lot of time on the strip, in East LA and in Long Beach. Hung with some now famous dudes, some of whom are dead now. And banged the daughter of a very well known record producer.

I would never live in California now, but I don’t have any bad memories of living there in the 80s.
