I just use real gear..... A real rig. Don't have time or care to use these cellphone-pedals.... I just prefer the real thing digital pedal or analog or a real amp/pedal vs a pure computer......


Also tired of seeing vids for this shit simply because I play guitar when Im not interested in this shit or care.....


Anyone just say fuck this shit and just stick to real gear.

I mostly stick with one tone but lately I've been having fun building some different rigs in the Fractal. I don't really have the strength any more to deal with real amps. I disabled the cab IR and go into a PS100 and 4x12, so still half real?

I like both. If I am jamming in my basement, it is the tube stacks. If I am sitting on the couch watching my kids play video games, I am using my ToneX Plug with headphones, loaded with captures I made of the big tube amps.

Both have use cases. I find digital easier to play. More forgiving on mistakes and easier to mix. I enjoy the tube rigs a lot more though because there is nothing quite like moving air from big iron.

Ill take a fractal vp4 for time effects all day long though. So much easier.

I kinda like both but my Quad Cortex has been sitting unused for over a year now. I, however, like reactive loads and IRs together with tube amps to get the tubes cooking in an apartment building volumes.

The Tube still comes out on top nvm the Princeton and Lynx 50 but even the AC15 sounds just a tad nicer and more well real for lack of a better term. I'm just liking my analog stuff a lot more. The digital stuff is nice to make sure I don't put too many miles on the tubes and real amps but yeah.

Only thing I use my tube amps for are live jams


If I'm just playing at home/practicing I'm using my Yamaha THR10X 100% of the time


If I'm recording music I'm using either the Yamaha or a preamp direct to PC, or just doing it 100% inside the PC with ampsim VST's

Its not a binary choice. Both have their charms. I prefer Analog, its more of a feel thing.

Digital makes things more practical. Most of my jam time is when the family is sleeping, so the Axe FX makes for very fun noodling through monitors or headphones.
When they're away, the glass gets hot and the 4x12 breathes.

I think all the digital stuff has reduced the likelihood of guitarists having a tonal voice thats unique to them. Now this is ok if you are trying to cop a certain sound, or you just want simplicity or as a means of obtaining a ballpark experience. But in terms of originality or a tone that you can really make your own, it actively works against this. I can't watch another Andertons video.

I deal with modeling occasionally but rarely. Usually when someone using the studio wants it. I'm not a big fan, but it can have a place, especially for stuff it's not reasonable to own a physical example of.

My gig rigs are normal amps.

I somehow enjoy playing a real amp more but generally just flip on a little capture box of my amps because it's easier to then footswitch between the "amps" and have FXs etc.

Digital shit gets better but cheaper and accessible because the technology gets better and more affordable over time..... Making your 2-3 thousand dollar modelor now as valuable as a Spider lV amp.....


Axe FX, Kemper, CuckCortex ..... Its all just useless trash now. Real amps win out and physical analog/digital gear vs computer BS all day

Why limit your options? For the record I use tube amps with mics. I don't blame the live guys - weight and price penalties for real gear.

I mean I get and I'm not against digital pedals or say a digital modeler amp or a digital amp with a PowerAmp and a speaker in it like a real amp.....


But when it comes to this 100% computer shit..... I bet there is a place for it and it's cool but it just ain't for me and it never will be. If I can't just plug in and play and have a real amp and real pedals digital or analog I don't care tbh and I never have and never will.... Love my Katana Artist Mkll and stuff but I ain't ever plugging in my gear to a fucking computer or laptop or whatever but that's me.....


I'm never going into the Boss/Katana studio or whatever the fuck to mess with shit either or for a pedal if I could either..... I just don't care for it and never have and yeah never will.


Of course if you want to record you kind of have to but yeah I ain't adding 100% laptop/computer shit to my signal from guitar to amp
