Besides trying to buy every guitar in the world, I am also a fanatical car audio enthusiast. I've been building car audio systems for 35 years, im 50 now. Not a day has went by since I was 15 that I didn't have a kickass system. I work on the side in my hometown helping people achieve their audio Bliss lol. Recones, refoams, installs, although I only take on about 3-4 full systems a year now. Upside down in a trunk is for the young guys haha. Any of you guys car audio animals like me?

Yeah was pretty easy up to the early 80s.
Just a few wires and screws.

Blauplunks, pile drivers, pioneers with dolby, power amps in the trunk lol

Today i have no clue on how even to open the dash nor do i want to

Besides i find cars today come with decent sound and volume

Whatever is in my 24 XT5 is more than enough for me

I had a killer system in my '71 Coupe Deville. 3 Alpine 350 watt amps in the trunk along with rear facing 10" subs ( still had room for at least 5 bodies in there lol).
Blaupunkt 6x9s in the back glass, 6" Blaupunkts in the rear, 6" Alpines in the front doors, JVC hard dome super tweeters hidden in the front air ducts and an Alpine receiver w/ built in crossover and cassette deck.

My cousin installed it. He also sold me the car, as well as 2 other cadillacs. A '69 Coupe ragtop and a '67 Sedan Deville. The coupes had 500s in them and the sedan had a 429.

My current ride, 2014 Mercedes C350, has a stock Harmon Kardon system in it, which comparatively speaking, sucks.. I'd like to have a killer system in it, but I don't want anything in the cabin modified. I also don't want to spend the money it would take to make that happen.

My daily driver is a 2016 Altima SL. I have upgraded the system in it alot. Kenwood dnx995s is the head unit. Its full high resolution audio, its integrated into the car's system with an Idatalink Maestro unit. Up front is a set of Focal components 6.5" and tweeters. Rear is Focal 6.5" coaxials. I have a JL Audio 12w7 in a high output JL Box. I completely covered the entire inside with sound deadening. Replaced all speaker wiring with OFC wire. I have a 270 amp alternator, all 1/0 ofc wire. I have two Odyssey AGM Batteries. This system was designed for Sound Quality, yet with a small twist of the bass knob can get very radical. The head unit will play dsf files as well as most high resolution audio files. Lot of people are shocked when they hear a really high quality car audio system, you start hearing parts in songs that you have never heard before.

Yep, I loved car audio since I was a kid. It helped that many of my uncles on my dad’s side of the family including my dad were in the car audio business.

I used to put together an entire system in my bedroom lol. Used a pyramid power supply, radio, subs and speakers (usually 6x9’s) and blast music. Always loved bass heavy music to get the subs working hard. I didn’t have much money since I was a kid but my older brother always hooked it up with equipment which was awesome.

When I got my first car in high school, I had installed one of those double face pioneer stereos, kicker amp, kicker L5 subs and mb quart speakers. While my friends were driving super nice cars, my 1987 Honda accord got more attention thanks to that system lol. Good times.
