Fallen out of luv with my CC, can no longer get past the subtle high end robbing going on (regardless of where I place it, loop or front end, guess it's just the nature of this particular pedal). I know that's exactly why most players like it (analog warmth), more power to them, but eh, with my setup it's grown to come off as more dull/mushy than simply "warm" now. I hear it in my own test clips - the non engaged tone is crisp and lively, the delay tone on even minimal settings is lifeless, dull and subdued, high end zing missing. It's not much mind ya, but enuff to make me look elsewhere. My needs are simple, I'd like the same tone as the raw, uneffected signal, but simply with a hint of repeats (just for lead stuff, etc).

Alternatives? Should I be looking at digital delays then and skip the whole 'analog, true bypass is king' thing.

thanks!

I've been thinking of getting one of these.

+1

it's what i replaced my MXR CC with, killer pedal and versatile to boot

Another vote for the flashback. You can get that analog sound, or a nice clean digital one. Lots of versatility with this thing and the same size footprint as the CC. Stereo ins and outs to boot.

Guys, are these TC electronic pedals line level by any chance? Call me crazy because I have a TC G2 but i don't really need a rack of any type. My Lynchbox though was designed to handle only line level and i had problems with delays in the past. I think the solution is an ebtech line level shifter though but just thought i would ask if anyone know...

Great! Thanks for the suggestions - now I can read up a bit on them and decide. The Flashback is looking tempting, especially since they have 'em in stock nearby and I can go sample it first hand - if it delivers the goods, I can get something for my CC when trading in/up (I could sell it but I'm impatient).

I've been having this issue too. I still love the CC, but only use it in certain situations. I talked for awhile with a dude at Proguitarshop and he recommended this guy:

The digital sampling engine of the Diamond Memory Lane Jr does nothing but copy, delay, and reproduce the signal, all signal paths to and from the sampling engine are analog.

Hey Kapo,

The Flashback Delay works great in the loop of my Egnater MOD50 without the ebtech line level shifter. The MOD50 loop is hot and, i imagine, fairly comparable
to the loop on the Lynch box. I'm using the SL2x/EG5 Modules with the module masters around noon.

Btw, Bruce is developing a level shifting box similar to the ebtech to solve the loop level issue.

Cheers,
Russell

there's a killdry switch in the flashback too, so you can just hear the wet signal from it, for some setups it can be good, and a buffer/trails function too which is cool

I love the sonic goodness of the cc, but, all I've been using of late is the tc flashback.

Never been a fan of analog delay. To me a delay should be an exact copy of the original signal. No eq cuts or coloration or anything like that. I really liked my old Line 6 DL4 and Echo Park pedals for digital delays. If i ever go back to pedals i really would like to try the TC flashback though.

Does this one have an adjustable vol?

Strymon El Capistan...it's the best delay that I've come across (although I haven't tried a Flashback yet).

FLASHBACK!! Set to Killdry, through
my FX Loop with GMajor. I run everything
Through a Suhr Minimix so my true amp tone
isn't colored.

The Flashback works in the loop just fine. The FX level controls how much effect is present. I am using it in the loop of a Mark IIC+ and it sounds great. Love the 2290 mode.
Other delays that I know where instrument level didn't work in the loop. This one does and I am very pleased with it. True Bypass to boot.

I live the Strymon Brigadier. Killer analog tones with sweet modulation.
