So I'm very familiar with V30's, but haven't tried the following celestions: G12-65, G12 Century Vintage, G12K-100, and G12T Hot 100. My question is what are they like and how do they compare to the V30's or G12T-75's (I'm also familiar with these)? I also wonder why the following celestions aren't more popular? Especially the Century since it has neodymium magnets, which are both more powerful and much lighter weight than ceramic and alnico magnets.

All I have for reference are you tube vids and to my ears those 65's were pure bliss.

Was like a perfect meduim without any harshness.

I use the v30 x 75 combo and the video I saw of the 65's sounded alot better to me.

Cant really comment on any of the other speakers but the k100's are discussed alot around here, am sure you could find something in the search.

I use a 75/65 combo in my cabs. the original G12-65's provide a nice lower/mid mid while the 75's push out some extra bass and treble. It's a great combo.

V30's tend to be in the higher mid register compared to the G12-65. On my Marshall's and my Friedman, i can only describe V30's as being too boxy for my liking.

I used the 65s in an old Marshall 4x12 for almost 20 years and loved them, but I've heard they may have varied in tone over the years. Not as tight or big on the lows/low-mids as the V30s.

I used the Century Vintage Neos in a VHT 4x12 for a while and dug them too. The cab was great for playing out because it kept the cab somewhere around 50 pounds, but I don't remember the differences compared to the V30s. I must've posted about them in the past, but I'm too lazy to search.

I thought the k100s sounded like they were in the V30 family, but they colored the sound way too much.

Never tried the other speakers you mentioned.

In a Marshall style amp G12 65s are king. They just have a perfect balance of everything IMO. I use them with all my amps and I still like them best. Even the dreaded Bass cones are great. The old ones do vary, but not too much. Some versions are a bit darker than others. Had a 79 Marshall cab with them and still have an 81 B cab with them...love them. Not very familiar with the others.

I have a pair of G85s which turned into the k 100 as I understand and to me they are nothing like V30's. The 85's have a wonderful balanced across all frequencies to me with a really nice warm bottom end, V30's have a huge midrange punch that colours every amp imo

There is no such thing as a neutral guitar speaker. They are all extremely coloured.
