Anyone using these speakers? Been eyeing the Mode 4 cabs since getting the Kerry King photo. I know he uses those with the K100's. I also have the Spawn Quick Rod and VHT Deliverance.

My current cabs are the Spawn 2x12's with Creamback 65's. I don't have a 4x12 and can get one of the M4 cabs for pretty damn cheap.

Thoughts?

I had a Deliverance 120 I used with a Genz Benz G-Flex 212 that I loaded with G12-K85's (same as G12-K100) that sounded really good. I also use a Sig:X with that same cab or a VHT FB412 that I have X-pattern with G12-K100's and the stock P50E's. Also, sounds great.

The G12K-100/85 worked really well with the Peavey VTM amps--I think it was the stock speaker for those cabs, and the VTM was loosely based on the JCM-800 with built in mods. It ended up being the precursor to the 5150, FWIW, which is supposedly based on the SLO, so I'm not sure where the lineages intersect.

The G12K-100 does not play as nice with my Marshall 1987X. It sounds harsh. I think that amp really needs a Greenback type of speaker. I've never played a Splawn so can't really comment on how it would work with it.

Hmmmm...

Well if they work with your Six that's promising. The Kerry King proto is basically a JCM800. I am guessing it should sound good with that.

I can get the cab for CHEAP so might be worth it just for the speakers if they aren't shot.

I use my Quickrod through the K100 Mode Four cab almost every band practice. I can't really describe the tonal attributes of it, but it sounds killer. Compared to the V30 loaded Mode Four that's also at our practice space, I much prefer the K100 cab.

Kick ass. I'm going to grab it. It's a bit mojo'd/beat up but I don't care about that as long as it works.

It'll have less break-up, correct? So therefore it should reproduce the 'sound' of your amp better w/out as much coloring of the tone from the speaker break-up.

I feel it has other best bass for many things. It is a fairly flat speaker. Does not have the midrange hump most guitar speakers have. If you play heavy stuff ... It is my favorite speaker for that.

Do it. K100s rule with my 2203KK. But I like them with almost any amp I have.

Just bought the cab. $249 which seems like a good deal. Like I said, it's definitely been gigged... a lot but as long as it sounds good I'm not too worried.

I'll be pissed if it gets here and someone swapped the speaker out! Lol!!!

k100s are awesome speakers. I use them in both of my 4x12s.
Nice! I am pretty stoked.
Good grab. I have a MF280 that I paid 299 for, good condition. These cabs have one input, thicker gauge wiring and birch ply back. Better IMO than a regular 1960a/b. Hopefully the speakers are there!

Nice! There is a MF280 locally but I feel the overwhelming need to get it as close the KK's rig as possible so needed the K100's. Aren't the V30's in the 280 slightly different? Revoiced?

Definitely revoiced, low end is a bit more pronounced and the mids/highs reduced slightly. Still a V30 but reminds me of a well broken in 25 yr old V30 with more low end. I saw those MF400 cabs, they had 2 for 249. These MF cabs are a steal used IMO.

-you stole that cab, very sought after, I would of paid more than you just for the cab!!

-the K & H 100's are a very good speaker, if you don't like them try mixing with something in the greenback family-

-or sell them and make more $$$ than ya paid and your left with a monster cab-

Thought about ,mixing with 2 of my Celestion Creamback 65's in an X pattern based on a comment above. Then I could put 2 in my Splawn 2x12.

Put the K's on the bottom of the cabs would be my advise. I would think they would blend with 65's good.

Those cabs are tanks! I have one with the k100's, a 1960a with Texas heats, and a Mesa mk cab with ev's. Sold a pair of Engls with v-30's, and a marshall with swamp thangs, and that mode four cab kills. It's still my main cab with the d-60, and my 3channel dual rec. kicks like a mule, and sounds balanced with both.
