Does anyone own/played a Ceriatone '67 Plexi 50?

I've been looking at a Suhr SL-67 & the Friedman Small Box & apparently the Ceriatone '67 Plexi 50 is very similar to these amps at 1/3 the cost.

I would order it without a transformer & upgrade to something better like a Mercury Magnetics.

Why do you describe it as a '67?

I think it means 1967 specs.

These amps look to be exact hand wired replicas of a vintage pelxi plus a master volume for waaaaaay less money than a Friedman or Suhr.

However, I don't want to cheap put & lose out on tone & I've never played a Ceriatone.

But where do you find it to be a replica of a '67?

If I read the Ceriatone website nothings says it a copy of a '67. Maybe you're mistaking the year with the model number?

You may want to look a little deeper, the Ceriatone '67 may be Bass Spec not Lead Specs like the Suhr and Friedman's. It will be less gain and completely different feel and tone, may also have tube rectifier.

I e-mailed ceriatone told them I was looking to buy a Suhr Sl-67 & sent him the link & asked if they made a similar amp.

I was e-mailed back & told their '67 Plexi 50 was their clone.

Yea just looked that "Lead 67" is Bass Spec not Lead spec you don't want that one..

I went the Ceriatone route many years ago. I got the 1987 and Roy Blankenship help me put in Mercury Magnetics transformers, and we replaced a couple caps with sozo's. Been my main recording amp ever since - pretty much ended my gas for amps. I use a Ho attenuator, boost with a modded SD-1. I do have a ppimv that sounds decent, but I prefer the Ho to that. Here's some tunes I've recorded with that amp...

edit - I think that 67 does look like Super Bass specs. I'm surprised they suggested that one. they have way more options on that 1987 circuit that when I bought mine. I'm sure they have one that is not Super Bass specs...

Nik will build it to whatever spec you want. Even if it's not listed. Just tell him exactly what you want. i.e. "I want .68 coupling caps in V1, but not V2, and XYZ value resistor here or there, etc."

Yes, he told me this & said if I could get him specs for an SL-67, he'd do it.

He thinks the SL-67 is a slightly modded Marshall '67 Plexi, but he didn't know what the mods & tweaks were.

Yeah, but the SL-67 aside, if you want a 50-watt, '67 lead spec (not a bass spec), just tell him that. Maybe the layout on his site is just a typo. It says Lead spec, but it's clearly bass spec. But if you tell him you want it to lead spec, he'll do it. Might not be a clone of the SL-67, but it will be a '67 Lead.

Recently got a Ceriatone Plexi 50. Got '68 spec w/ 6550's. It's as good or better than any Germino I ever owned and I've owned quite a few. It has a 500pk bright cap on the Volume (pull out) which is cool for brighter tones. Simple loop and good MV but I run it clean and drive it w/ pedals. Ordered thru Ceriatone USA in Fla. No shipping charge from Indonesia. $1050
