All these companies are just BS'ing their customers. Here's a blurb from Evidence Audio about their $85 speaker cable:

"The Siren Speaker Cable applies the design priorities of Evidence Audio to a cable which can handle the demands of an amplified signal without adding distortion through strand interaction. While line-level cables can avoid the smearing we attribute to skin effect by using a 20-awg conductor, a single 20-awg conductor does not offer enough cross-sectional area to keep an amplified signal from using the conductor as a filament. Three audio optimized conductors are joined together for positive, and three for negative in order to lower resistance and provide ample dampening between an amplifier and drivers."

"...without adding distortion through strand interaction..."
This has zero to do with guitar amp signals.

"...a single 20-awg conductor does not offer enough cross-sectional area to keep an amplified signal from using the conductor as a filament..."
Translation: 20-awg wire can get hot sometimes, so we use thicker cable (just like everybody else).

..."provide ample dampening between an amplifier and drivers..."
Uhhh, what? The cable has fuck-all to do with dampening.

And if you zoom in on the photo of their cable, it says solid core. I assume this means the wire is solid and not stranded. That's bad. Bend their cable one time too many and the wire can break.

The ridiculous claims that cable and wire companies make to justify stupidly expensive prices is insanity...

Whoops, I posted in the wrong thread lol.

I'm so close to ordering one of these working chassis without the transformers..... there is a guy in Australia who is doing a spot on clone of a wizard mc ii on pcb.. called headfirst amplification. The pcb with instructions is 30 bucks.. not sure if he sells the whole completed clone to the usa

I have his MC2 board and the MTL board. I've been buying some parts here and there working on it.The pcb's are top notch plus he gives you really good documentation on building it although I think Nik is doing a version of these soon based on his layout. I have a JJ jr. Ordered but I'm thinking of getting the molecular instead. I'm fiending for another hot rodded Marshall type amp since having to sell my modded Marshall due to unforseen expenses. I was thinking about a Leviathan but I think this might suit me more. May get a kit but I'm a bit too inexperienced to feel confident on this one.

yea, that's my only hesitation... I'm good for a few solder points here and there.. but I dont want it to look like a 5th grader did the job. There is some art to it, and I'm not that type of artist.

At this point my skill level is no where near Nik's crew. I do think I can solder in the transformers and choke without any issue. I have a classictone choke laying around here somewhere that I need to put to use. Ive been wanting a Chupa or Yeti but I was hesitant cause of the loop. It looks like this one has a better loop.

Is it a 5 henry choke for a 100 watter? On the transformers i've heard to go with the classic tones made with M6 steel for a more high fidelity sound

Yeah its a 5 henry part number 40-18032. I got it for a Mojotone kit build but it didnt fit the chassis.

Has anybody commented on the logo lol? "Ace Tone"? And the symbol is for acetone.

Ahh... Im in the Chemical Industry and I missed that... Doh'

I love this discussion. As I have heard, played or owned both Scott's and 46&2's work, both these guys are geniuses with the electrons who have very good ears (an often under appreciated part of the equation).

There’s a Ceriatone Molecular for sale locally for $850. I’m kind of tempted.

Do it man! And record a vid. Your vids have been really helpful a few times as a lot of videos dont give as good of a representation. Usually when Im recommending the KSR Ceres I send people to your vid.

Im curious about the Molecular but I want a different video other than Leon Ragdoll's. Seems like a lot of the new amps Nik has put up have gone up for sell pretty quickly. Ive seen several Gargoyles go up already and I dont think they have made that many.

Nik has probably made more money than any other amp builder minus marshall. Bought a 50 watt 1987 from him in 2004 when everyone was saying it was junk. The amp still works/ sounds great and has stayed on 10 for its whole life.

my 2204 was immaculate. The pics they show on the site arent b.s. Those guys do neat work

I’m really considering it. I’ll see if it’s still available this weekend and hopefully try it out. Thanks for getting some use out of my clips. I try to keep them as simple as possible.

From what I have seen the Ceriatone amps have great lead dress and attention to detail. $850 for an amp based on the Brad era Atomica is a great deal, looks like it has a Metro/loop clone in it as well. The Brad era atomica's were my favorite amps(tonewise) that they put out, pretty much a HG Jose model tweaked by Dave Friedman. Even if you upgraded the transformers that's still not a bad price for a PTP amp with all those features. MC won't build you one for that.

Well it looks like I’m going to be getting a Molecular this weekend.

Here's a King Kong with Molecular Specs in one of the channels.
