Channel 4 squealing

No matter what module I put in the second spot on my Mod50 the B channel starts to squeal. As soon as I unmute the strings it goes into a feedback loop. Since it's done this with my EG3/4 and SL2 it's not a microphonic tube as both those modules work well in the left slot.

Tube gone bad on the amp itself? which one.

Does the squealing go away if you dial back the gain on the module your using?

About to fire it up but the gain is only at 1 or 2 oclock.

That helped. I think it's just general feedback and the Wolfie doesn't help with the ultra hot pups.

No it was just quitar to amp. The squeal is actually just feedback.

Why does it NOT feedback when he puts into the first slot of the MOD50??? Sounds more like a power tube problem???

Val- I've got a new set of tubes coming so I'll post if that makes it better.

That would not indicate a power tube problem, it would squeel in either position if that were the case. Ned does it sound okay in slot one (SL2 or EG3/4) but not in slot two.

It was actually feeding back in both channels, just slot two seems to feedback faster.

I'll be playing the Hotel Valencia in SA on the 31st Tommy if you want to drop by, it's right near the River walk.

I get squealing from the fourth channel of my Tourmaster too but I don't think the tubes are microphonic, I just think it is because of the high gain. I love the overdrive sound that Gary Moore gets from his Soldano on the Still Got The Blues For You Live at The Odean Hannersmith. That is the ultimate sound for me. I think I need higher output pick ups than the Gibson 498T which are more sensitive to feedback. I might talk to Doug from Doug's tubes to see what tubes that he recommends. I guess I just like super high gain settings. I got squeal with different guitars on a bunch of different amps like a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade and Traynor Custom Special 100 and Line 6 Bogner head. Just call me gainboy.

Are you taking the MOD 50 to that gig? I could bring by my EG3/4 and see if we get different results.

Yea ron ... you might want to look into a more solid pickup, like a Suhr or Duncan. Those stock Gibsons squeal pretty fast. Mine did and I yanked it right away.

That's the plan. Pretty much narrowed the problem down to the GSP into the amp with the high gain modules. The GSP sounds better than a POD on it's own but yeah it sucks tone in the serial loop. If I use the amp on Wednesday night I need to use the GSP unless I shell out the bucks tomorrow for a G-Major other wise I have to run 9VDC for my Strobo Stomp, everything else in front of me 9VAC.

It's fun building rigs but not so much when you've got a time crunch.
