Cool, let me know what he says. I do know that it's a triple-step/color process with PRS. Not sure on the details, though.

Yea, I'm still working on it, I talked to Brent about it, he said he knew which finish it was, but didn't say if he'd do it or how much, so I emailed him on it, just waiting to hear back on that, and a couple other quotes I have as well. Dont feel lonely, your not the only one

I don't think it's an odd question. The only finishes I've seen on Gutierrez guitars are natural, camo, and black. So, it's certainly a valid question to ask.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude or anything. It's just that we've all seen that finish from just about every guitar company for many years now.....and I figured anyone, especially a high-end company, could do charcoal sunburst.

Pardon my in-experience with that company..........

I've only seen Charcoal Burst on PRS guitars (and they're only available on the Private Stock, custom-built models). There are similar finishes available from other companies, but they don't really look the same; they're more of a transparent or translucent black.

I don't really know the paint setup that Gutierrez has so I was just wondering if he had the means to do this particular finish, since Gutierrez is still a fairly small company and the only examples of his work that I've seen were all natural, solid-colored, or camo.

I'll see if I can dig up some comparison photos so you can really see that there's a huge difference between Charcoal Burst on PRS guitars and similar finishes from other companies.

I also heard back and was told that this finish would be possible on a Guitierrez. So, I'm happy!

FWIW, not every company does what other companies do as far as finishes go, some offer things that others dont, the MAIN reason we haven't done any like this as of yet, is because of customer orders, we haven't had any orders with a trans-maple top yet. although I'm planning on getting one soon, looks like I wont be the first
