The Zoo does get it...................sort of imo. Their natural series is very cool and the price is there BUT they used mahagony which is not what charvels guys want and they are missing paint.

Make the same models alder and basic 80s charvel colors and see what happens.

I have one of the TMZ naturals, and I love it. However, I would not mind having one in alder.

I don't get the Nitro series either. All the original Charvels we loved and grew up on were poly...

Have you decided on your Custom Shop orders yet? I'm dying to hear/see what you go with!

Steve

As I have been putting my order together, I mentioned to one local Charvel guy that I was now a custom shop dealer and a couple of days later he and his friend both put in an order. I'm still trying to decide on the rest of the order. Part of what's holding it up is me figuring out exactly what I want for myself.

Oh yeah, tone control on a Charvel? Subtract 100 cool points.

this!

Ugh, a tone knob on a Charvel.

That is blasphemous.

Thanks guys. Music Zoo "gets it" though. One of the only custom shop dealers that does in my opinion. But this series has me
No doubt! I really dig the stuff they order in general. I need to block their site! :hys:

They must think they're somehow connected to Jackson. ;)

Hey Chubtone are you gonna do the Nitro Aged Custom Charvels when you get all set up? Those are sick guitars!!! Especially the Red Nitro

Probably not. Those and the natural series are ones that the Music Zoo is really well known for and anyone who has wanted one of those has probably gotten one already, or KNOWS that Music Zoo is the place for one of those. I'm trying to do something slightly different.

My friend has an early Charvel (pointy though) and it's nitro.

I don't know what my 1984 pointy is painted with but it has finish cracks all over it that you don't commonly see with other finishes besides laquer

Can you give us a hint as to what your approach with the Customs will be?

I do too and I love it. I also have a few (painted) pointys and they are both excellent guitars. There's just some thing about my "Big Natural(s)" that I love. :hys: (maybe its the BK Holy Diver pup!). For the price and quality they are hard to beat for me.

Seriously? Dude, give me a thinner, nitro finish and a livlier-sounding guitar ANY day over a dead-sounding, poly-choked axe. I didn't use to give a shit until I got my nitro-finished Explorer and EJ Strat, which I had to finally admit to myself absolutely DESTROY my poly-finish guitars tonally, including my USA Soloist & other USA Strat. It kinda pissed me off really, because I love the way my Jackson plays so much, but I just can't get away from the fact that it just sounds dead to me compared to the Gibby & especially the EJ.

To each his own, man, but the nitro Charvel is probably #1 on my GAS list these days & thinner nitro finishes are where it's at in my book.

Great guitar, couldn`t care less about the knot hole, its a piece of wood you`re playing, it might as well look like a piece of wood :D

It`s nice, but that toggle is placed the worst way it could be :D

Agreed, my knuckles would be cut and bruised after 20 minutes of playing

All I know is that I now know what I need to do................buy that Warren Dinky Snake so both GMWs are going on the block very soon.

Looking at it again, an easy fix would actually be to just swap places for the volume and toggle.

That way, it would be near perfect set up. If you accidentaly bump into it while playing rhythm, you would most likely set it to the bridge pickup, which is okay, and I flail a lot less when soloing, which I often do with the neck PU... That was an easy fix
