To me sounds a lil like asking for a fine sport car and buying a Ducati.

Heres what you need.. now go out and get it:

Agree with this post, check this as well. Quite a bit of kick from this Furman

He's essentially running it into a clean JCM800. Imagine it dirty'.. now THAT would be piu cazzuta!

I haven't played any Engl but I have played several EVH's and I gotta agree that it's not anywhere near what I think of when I think of hot rodded Marshall. Not to say you won't enjoy it. I'm actually a fan of The EL34 EVH's. But it's not going to have that Marshall kerang. Also If I was going the EVH I would go with the 50 EL34. It sounds damn good

Hi and thanks for the answers so far.

It may sounds crazy but these two amps seem to fulfill my expectations, are in my price range (new or used, and i buy used gear usually) and are easy to buy here in Europe.

While not quite a Marshall copy, the EVH S EL34 has a clean channel with the texture I want to hear in a British style amp. Absolutely wonderful. The 2 distortion channels, although overkill in the amount of distortion, can be easily tamed with some lower gain preamp tubes and get me where I want to go. This amp has this upper mid grind that I'm searching for. It comes from the Marshall camp and it shows. It's like a modded jcm 800 on steroids but with a low end that was missing.
No need for those 4x12s with EV speakers or EMG pickups. ;)

As for the Engl, it also has wonderful British cleans that can be Fenderish as well.
It has that plexi distortion is spades. And beyond:) This mid matrix thing in the 3rd ch can give you 2 sounds (rythm & lead) in one channel alone!
Overall it seems a little more "refined" and not so raw as the EVH which can be good or a bad thing, depends on how you see it.

I'm torn between these 2 amps. I like them both..

You killed it

I would say, going for a Porshe Carrera but buying a BMW M3. That metaphor would be more accurate.

Those two sound nothing like a 800, modded or not. But hey, YMMV...
Dude, he wants a "hotrodded jcm800 tone" not a hotrodded jcm800. Try and keep up. :D
LOL
Nothing sounds like an 800 but an 800. I'm not interested in buying an one channel amp, so that's OK.
Try and keep up ;)
