It's an inaccurate copy of a guitar that is well-known for the fact that Ed didn't like it.

Yeah, he specifically mentioned that they did it neck-through instead of set-neck like the original guitar and in the next sentence tells about how they used authentic parts to make it exactly like the original.

Confused.

It's a cool guitar but not 5K cool but that isjust my opinion.

I owned a Ed Roman J Frogg Guitar once and that was a big piece of junk. The maple neck was spongy and flexed badly. My luthier said the neck wood was faulty and possibly the truss rod and could not be fixed other than buying a new neck.

Luckily I was able to sell the guitar. I would never buy an Ed roman guitar after having one. I hope he stepped up the quality on yours Brad.

This begs the question.

I thought it was illegal to sell replica EVH goods? I was under the impression I could never legally sell my EVH replica I constructed because of this (not that I'd want to sell it).

Ooooo... Yeah.... Ed Roman :aww:

I know from time to time he made some bitchin' replicas of rock star guitars when he had a good luthier working for him but those guys were usually gone within a few months for bigger and better things. Most of the other stuff he put out was... well... Ed Romanesque.

Route where the toggle switch is wrong as well.

To be fair, Ed Roman built me a guitar:

and I'd have to say it was an absolutely awesome and unique guitar. It was like a combination of a Steinberger and a EBMM with a TransTrem and a Sustainer. Everything was quality, fit and finish was great and it sounded and played great, Definitely a guitar I never should have sold, especially since I wrote something with it that specifically requires the TransTrem that I want to re-record but can't now because I don't have this guitar.

My only beef with Ed was that he took credit for the guitar even though it was completely my idea. Promised to give me credit for it and never did, but made a line of guitars out of it even though it was supposed to be a one-off custom for me. Not that big of a deal, but I found it annoying when I saw it described as his design...

First post Hello All.
I have been watching this particular shark for some time and even wheel and dealed with the last dealer.
First off I have been playing since the late 70s and amassed around 50 guitars.I have a weakness for oddballs and pointy guitars and have a few 80s Modernes,Explorers,Vees,Stars....I also have alot of EVH related guitars. EBMMs,even a pink one,Wolfgangs, the set neck custom Wolfgang.I bought a ok done Shark not long ago because I wanted to see if I like it before I got a better constructed and quality copy.I really digged it so I replaced everything on it including SD custom shop PUs that cost more than the guitar.IMO the chuck cut out made very little difference in the sound.Played acoustically maybe but plugged into effects and then blasted out of a dimed Marshall? I mean a 2x4 or a brick with good pickups and amp sounds pretty dam good.I try to rotate my guitars and play each at least once a month and coming out my Yngwie Malmsteen Marshall they all start sounding alot alike.Even my Roswell Jackson cut out of a slab of aluminum sounds about the same as a LP.Then again I did alot of damage in the hair metal days playing bars and have leather eardrums.
Anways,I really dig this Shark and like I said been chasing it. I am not willing to part with that kind of cash but that does not mean its not worth it to someone else.I would love to own, display and play it. I would sling some numbers or trades to get it.

Btw-I tried to post a pic of some of my EVH guitars but every time get invalid file, progress bar never completes. It there a size limit? Thanks Jim

Didn't Roman cut up a bunch of original Ibanez Destroyers to make these replicas back in the early 90's ECMM days?
