In the market (possibly) for a delay pedal. I don't use crazy delays or blend or use an expression pedal with it. I'm also not looking for high dollar delays like Strymon, etc...
I do prefer as close to transparent/true bypass as possible.

Carbon Copy
Flashback X4 (mainly because I like a couple of delays per song but not mandatory, tap tempo)
DL-4
DD-3
DD-20 (tap tempo but not sure about transparency)
Others?

Please keep around the same price range...and used prices. Thanks!

Rv-3 sounds pretty good if you're ok with cleaner repeats.
Plus since it's technically a reverb pedal, it's got that too.

Also, there's a fabulous Biyang ad-7 with 1100ms of pure analog delay on Reverb.com at a wonderful price, from a great seller. ;)

The Boss pedals should be just fine. You can get a DD3 in the $60-$70 range all day or the DD7 in the $90-$100 range. I see the DD7's sell much faster, maybe for a reason although you have tons of options.

I am on the fence on what to do with my effects. I do not really use them a lot but have been thinking about getting a Nova system or a Line 6 M9 or something just to have it all in one. I know you just sold the AX8 so that might be something to consider as well if you think you'll want more effects in the future.

Build a board or get a Nova System is a hard decision lol.

I was looking at the nova system but no 4cm and everything I read, it's a tone suck. I had an M13 and didn't like it much.

Tech 21 Boost DLA. Great delay tones and a clean boost feature in case you experience any volume drop with your FX loop.

X4 is a great pedal. 3 delays plus tap tempo. Runs off your regular 9V supply.

Maybe the Duncan Vapor Trail? I hear good things about it.

I'm leaning towards the X4 mainly because of the preset options and being able to have immediate access to them during a song without having to scroll. I only really use a short delay and longer delay periodically.

T Rex Replica pedal... The best delay I've experienced, in a small package that can sit on your amp connected in loop and controlled with this foot pedal for tap tempo...the Molten Voltage “SIXY” pedal - so you don't have to connect to loop with 30 feet of cable!

Small, powerful easy set up AND extremely transparent!!!!

I have the x4 and the carbon copy, love them both.

I have a DD20 and a Nemesis and also still have an old Deluxe Memory Man and H&K Replex and I've forgotten several. I've tried the Carbon Copy and Malekko but they weren't for me. The Replex is huge and massively sucks tone but the echoes are great. DMM is awesome but has it's quirks. It is not transparent but can be made to be TB...but then there are level/tone altering issues with it if TB. Once you figure it out, the DD20 is easy to use live but it might have more features than you want/need. I has a fairly big footprint. The Nemesis sounds great to me, it's the newest for me and is on my board now.

Do you now or do you foresee using midi? Seems like the Nemesis is sort of made with it in mind.

EDIT: FWIW, depending on what else is on your board you might actually WANT a buffer in your delay pedal (i.e. not true bypass). Only because it is often the last pedal in the chain and can buffer the long run back to the amp. But if you already have a buffer late in the chain you prob don't need it.

I use a Source Audio Nemesis and LOVE it. I had the X4 but man it is YUGE!!!! I think if I went the X4 route I would go with the Alter Ego X4 because I like those alto's better. The Nemesis beat out the Timeline and Echolution 2 Deluxe for me actually.

For what you're looking for I would probably go DD-20 and tap tempo switch.

If you are looking at the X4 look at the Triple as well, being able to run more than 1 at a time in PARALLEL is a very cool feature and sounds good.

Earthquaker devices disaster transport sr. Or for tap tempo and stereo the avalanche run. I have both and find them to be excellent.

You know what? I think I'm going to just use my Atomic Amplifire. I can set up the 3 switches for 6 different FX when needed. Need to save cash for a Friedman. Doh! I had used it this way in the past and played around with it today. It should be fine for what I need it for.

For the money nothing beats the DD3 ! I'm using it since forever on stage, even on recordings, never ever let me down. I know there a many incredible delays out there but I like keep it simple.

I have the flashback x4 the presets and the looper was the reason I bought it. I love it. The tone prints it's a great feature for a guy like me that is lazy when it comes to tweaking.

Boss DD3 is THE standard and sounds great. I prefer the DD5 because if the external tap input.

If you're going in front of the amp not much beats the Carbon Copy.
