Which way do you like it best? In a loop or in front of the amp?

Loop, just sounds cleaner to me. Also, it seems I can get more of the effect when its in the loop. If I want less I just turn down the mix on the pedal. Gives me more range. This holds true for me with flangers also.

Any modulated type, etc (delay, chorus, flanger) effect I like in loop. Doesn't get gain from power section that can really grit up and negatively effect the fx pedal. Wahs, OD's, Phasers I like in front of the amp.. Delays, Choruses I like in loop..always. Cheers and good luck

Get that sucker in the loop, loads cleaner. You'll notice how much so when you use a bit of gain with it. That said, it's up to you where you think it sounds best so have fun experimenting!

Thanks everyone. I was also thinking the loop. Should it go before the reverb pedal or after reverb and delay?

consensus is delay/reverb should be last in the chain, but remember, no rules. Try them different ways and see what sounds best to you.

A lot of chorus's don't work well in the loop for me...to easily overdriven on the front end. I don't think they were ever designed for loop level signals but there may be some that are these days. I tried to get my Retrosonic to work in the loop of my Bogner XTC but eventually put it in front and it works great there too...a little different only on the higher gain sounds but still sounds great. If you think about it even Alex Lifeson put his in front because those Marshalls didn't even have loops back then....

Chorus in the loop. Flanger and Tremolo as well. I like Phasers up front though, like a Wah.

Again thanks everyone for their input. I will do some trial and error on my end, but I think I will end up putting the Chorus in the loop.

Now help me out with the order of things:

From the send of the loop to:

chorus>delay>reverb or chorus>reverb>delay then to the return of the loop

My old h2o pedal actually boosted my volume when placed in front of my amp... No bueno! Much cleaner/clearer in the loop.

Chorus and flanger in front of amp. Always.
Do NOT like the sound of them in a loop.

The only time I ever recall seeing players put chorus in a loop was during the 80's early 90's if it was a rack effect. I hated that sound.
Drove me cray. Processed cheese brother. ;)

This is what I think of when I think of chorus. The first 1:15.

Sounds great for some guys.

I use a CE-5 (subtle pedal works great with gain) set very low so you hardly know it's on. It's an always on pedal for me. You might not even know it's there.

I love that "Pull Me Under" chorus vibe when I listen to it, but for my music and when I'm playing, I like a more subtle chorus effect so I run my EHX nano clone in front. When I program chorus into my PodHD pedalboard layout, I usually use the Boss CE1 (analog chorus) model and for that model, I prefer at the end of the chain before delay and verb.
