I was fooling around last week with this, not really my thing, trying to nail other tones, etc, but it is fun joining in the VH tone games when they pop up on boards once in a while lol! The playing could be better but fwiw, I thought this came out close enuff for shits and giggles.

I don't know how close it is to the original (my ears must suck - plenty on this forum hear nuances that I don't...). Regardless, it sounded great

I think for the money you can't beat these Ceriatone amps...that sounds really good. Waiting for someone on here to get their King Kong for clips of that.

Awesome! Thanks for the time and chiming in! Yep, the Ceriatone delivers the goods. :)

FWIW, the path is ultra simple: Guitar > Chupa > Marshall cab with Blackback 30w (55hz) > e906/sm57 > Cubase.

I think a big part is your cab! and the use of reverb.

U posted awhile back some VH clips with the 5150III 50w through that cab and same results! KILLER!

Not taking anything away from the chupa, just haven't heard that close of VH sounds outta anyone else's.

I agree crwnedblasphemy, the vintage cab with '76 Blackbacks is a big part of it. I record everything through it!!!! The 5153 with the same cab was also really in the ballpark as well, you're right (but I prefer this one fwiw, don't even have the evh any more).

Yep, mooncobra, this is the infamous Chupa that Cameron himself poked around in and learned/became convinced the Chupa is a Cameron clone. A friend of his who owns a studio in LA bought it and sent it to him for an examination, but to also mod/tweak as needed to meet his standards. The guy then turned around and flipped it as he already owns 5 friggin CCVs amongst others lol (I saw his studio pics...insane amount of boutique amppage). Crazy story and a can of worms I'd rather not be a part of stirring up because ultimately, I don't give a rats ass about drama and all that stuff, I just want good t-o-n-e.

Sounds great, I hear a similar exaggerated midrange when I use an EQ to boost the front end of an amp. :)

So do you know what Mark Cameron actually did to the amp ? Because now it seems like an off the shelf Chupa isn't going to sound like that unless Mark messes with it...

Thanks again, er'body! ;)

I can't be sure what he did, I'm definitely not a techy amp guts guy, hell, one of the things that drew me to the Ceriatone stuff is the external bias points lol! From what the original owner said, he loved the stock sound, he just wanted the mids to be a little warmer and chewier, that was it.

Damn killer clip. Nice job man. :rawk: MOOOOOOOORE!

Interesting story too.
