Outside opinions are fine, if they are logical and balanced and based in reality. Imho.

It’s 2025, the world is getting smaller and America seems to be trying to distance themselves from it. To me it seems the only other nations that want to kind of be an “island” from the rest of the world are those in the Middle East that need to be bombed to chill the fuck out.

I’m willing to listen to the contrary, but it seems the only thing we are still a leader of is military force, which is important but shouldn’t be our only thing.

It’s clear just from this forum that other countries have an interest in what we do. We used to influence the world with music and movies and culture, now all we are is a political circus with a lot of fast food.

I think you're selling it short.
USA is still the most free nation on the planet, as evidenced by the millions of people who want to live here.
Obviously it's not perfect and has its problems.

Well she went “viral”, particularly for a part of a speech that was about the way of the world harming her and others childhoods, so I’m guessing in her teens.
I’m also guessing most of the work she has done was when she was old enough to join the army in the US, so if you think that’s not old enough to be socially conscious, then that is a slippery slope all on its own.

Plus she’s an activist. Personally I think she is well versed, but it is in no way a prerequisite to be successful at it. The most important part is to get people’s attention and no one can disagree that she did that very well.

Right. This was my point. She was a tween i think when she burst on the scene out of nowhere. And imho she only got any traction because of her age. If she was some 45 year old hag with purple hair, no one would have given a shit.

Well she's 22 now so you're saying she has done most of her work as a climate activist in the last 4 years ?

She definitely brought attention to it, but ( and we have discussed this before ) I think an argument can be made that she did more harm than good. Or at least that she could have done a lot more good if there were a lot less outlandish claims, jet setting around the world to liberal minded media events and all the stuff that gives people ammunition to label her as a hypocrite.


When we ( notice I said we) are not being snarky, you make some damn good points about climate change. I think it's reasonable to assume that a lot more people would be motivated to change their behavior if the issue were presented to them in a reasonable way, by a reasonable person who was advocating reasonable solutions. That's just my opinion.

And like I said to Floyd, she’s an activist, not a climate scientist.
It’s her job to make people take notice, and she was able to get both people who agreed and disagreed with her to start talking about her.
Mission accomplished
