CLIP: Engl Blackmore VS Axe-FX Diezel VH4

The VH4 sounds really good, but there is still something missing IMO.

nice, love the axe clip

with some post processing such as EQ and multi band compression, you can get the engl clip to sound better. The axe has that finished sound most of the time, so sometimes comparing it to a raw recording isn't quite fair.

What though? The fact he said it's a modeller rather than a tube amp? I'm not trying to bust your balls, but is that truly coming from what you hear or from what you see? I only ask because when I know it's a modeller, I listen out for certain things too. I'm just curious.

I liked the first clip better...but that's coz I'm a fan of darker tones..in fact this one might be too dark...minor mic position tweak I'm sure.

axefx much better? you guys are crazy,

the ENGL micked amp sounds much more REAL

Yep. Not really my thing, but clip two sounded way less...flubby, or muddy...or something

I disagree...The Axe sounds very much like a tube amp. I'm usually very picky with this type of thing too. I've heard some not so great and very digital Axe clips, but this one is one of the best. Way punchier and more present than the Engl clip. The Engl clip was nice too though.

I liked both, but I think I like the Axe FX clip better. But also know for a fact, that the Blackmore can sound much better than what this clip shows. It's a fairly bright amp, which doesn't come through in this case.

:)

I think they both sound good. The Axe is slightly too present for my taste on the high gain part(which could be tamed), so I lean toward the Blackmore just a little bit. The Axe-FX is definitely something I will purchase when I'm not planning on gigging and I'm playing alot more at home. Although, lately when I've considered buying a new rack FX processor, its half tempting to just get the Axe now and use the FX for my wet side and not piss around with getting a new rack piece when I intend on getting the Axe anyway at some point :aww:

The Axe clip sounds too "squishy" to me. It sounds better than a POD, but I don't care for the tone.

It's actually one of the better Blackmore clips I've heard. A lot of are indeed way too bright for me.

Really?? I can't agree at all, but to each their own. I bought a Blackmore a few years back because of some of the great clips that were being posted at the time. I get a big silly grin on my face every time I plug into my Blackmore. I really like it a lot!

For as simple as the Blackmore is, you can dial in all sorts of different tones.

Yeah I believe it! I just like the body of the amp in this clip. Sounds very full to me, even though it's very dark.

First clip sounds better to me. The second sounds like static at times.
