You'll love it.... AWESOME, AWESOME amps!

Now I'm wanting to "upgrade" to the Mak2.
I imagine you'll stick with the "black" Mak2 with the Makoplex pre, right? Not the Dorado pre?

I wonder what his cabs are like? I saw the one with the 2 offset speaker holes, looks oversized. What's up with that "hex" back panel? It's not even a polygon, it's a polyhedron ie the sides of the hex are different lengths!!!! Dude's a mad scientist!

Yeah, I'll definetely stick with the Plex, IF I do it, I dont wanna "upgrade" and get something I dont know for sure if I'll like it, so......

Not sure on the cabs, I'm EXTREMELY happy with my Randall XXL cab, so I'm talking to Andrew about getting a Mako name plate so it at least "looks" matching

how does it sound LOUD

that's usually why an amp and I part ways

about half of the Dorado clips are mine. IMO, it's absolutely an awesome amp.

I'm not versed in the differences between Mako amps to help you there, but I know my Dorado if you have questions.

(I hope Andrew starts accepting orders soon)

which clips? actually, the clips prolly tell me all I need to know...but since you offered....might want to put on some coffee....

1. how loud was it when you recorded the clips, what % of the amp's available distortion did you need for them?
2. how's the loop? (I would only be sticking a delay in there)
3. how is it loud? I mean, really loud, in a studio setting? any fizz, hair, harshness at all? doesn't sound like it (VHT-ness)
4. is the feedback controllable (like an XTC?) - Andrew told me yes, but do you ever do that?

5. and, how would you compare it to yer 5150, Rev1, and M90? esp the 5150

you don't really have to answer, I'm already sold.
and not to minimize others' answers for the same - thanks to everyone

which clips?

The clips labeled Keiffer

1. how loud was it when you recorded the clips, what % of the amp's available distortion did you need for them?

varying volumes. the Dorado records very well at low volumes or loud

2. how's the loop? (I would only be sticking a delay in there)

the loops a funny thing. I don't use the lopop much, but the Loop dial act like a second gain control or almost like a master Gain. it's where you really dial the Gain's bite.

3. how is it loud? I mean, really loud, in a studio setting? any fizz, hair, harshness at all? doesn't sound like it (VHT-ness)

I have no hands on experience with VHT's, but low, moderate or loud volumes the Dorado can excel. Dialing fizz I would say is up to the user.

4. is the feedback controllable (like an XTC?) - Andrew told me yes, but do you ever do that?

Yes, often. Very touch sensitive and feedback controllable and will hold it until you decide. Albeit, the volume has to set accordingly.

5. and, how would you compare it to yer 5150, Rev1, and M90? esp the 5150

Those four stay ready in my studio. They all have their own voicing and the Dorado holds it's own. The M90 is probably has the most distinctive voicing having a dryer tone.

Check my SIG for more Dorado clips and wankery.
